So I'm releasing a new version of my software again and I've been seeing this fast-paced whiteboarding style in a few vids lately - tried to take a hack at it and mix it with 3D/AE/a cool VO, still not 100% sure about it but would love an open critique on the shit. I went to school for the arts but haven't drawn or storyboarded in ages and this shit isssssssssss haaaaaard (I'm recording myself drawing then playing with framerates of 3,000-10,000fps).

anyway check it out n' drop your .02 (specifically let me know if it makes you want to watch more to catch more anims or if you lose focus because of it and want to start drawing instead).

Really enjoyed the video and the product looks cool as heck.

Having said that:

Video was to long for me. I started loosing focus around the 2-3 minute mark. Maybe because I'm not your target audience?

While the drawing board mixed with video was fun, it ended up being a bit 'much' for me. I understand that you wanted to show of all the things your product can do though.

Seeing your head at times distracted me at times and got me off message.

When showing the program itself I couldn't see what you clicked and highlighted. I know it was just to show of the program but not being able to read any of the labels was annoying.

Overall, very impressive and these were just some minor gripes. Folks that love that sort of program are going to love it, I'm sure.

It looks great but have you thought about using a rapper voice vs. the female voice? I'm assuming most of your customers want to make rap beats though. Just my .02

Looks good, but I find the transitions between WB and 3D disorienting. Personally, I'd keep the non-WB stuff to ESSENTIAL things like product use shots. The 3d logos flying around don't move the story along, so they could be cut.

Whiteboarding requires you to be good in comical sketch... I think this is the most confused rule...

Anyways, Dubturbo offers a great potential... Anyone having this software?

Hope this is not dumbturbo in the long run..

Liked it, but the blue marker is too light at many places.

Also, you do not explain WHY no MP3 Export.

WTF? This does not seem like a feature, but an oversight.

While I might need the .wav for production, an MP3 might be needed for an email or preview on a site or wherever a lightweight format is needed.

Awesome feedback guys thank you very much!

* Blue marker sucks

* Agree that mixing so much media can be a bit much re contrast/styles. Agree the flying logo's are kinda out of place.

* Voice - was used on the last version and it rocked - however I'll take a peak at a few others just she's very easy to listen to and not everyone likes a thuggy rapper imo (a few versions ago we kinda went all out with the hiphop branding/rich media it didn't work ((as)) well)

* I'll take a nother hack at it I'm sure the next one will turn out better as will the sketches/drawing (such a difference between paper/pencils).

* The .mp3 - yeah what you said makes sense, however there are tools out there that go the other way re they only export mp3 not .wav. Converting down after you have a .wav is good - going the other way is bad/pointless. The next video down the page actually explains this well (it's being redone with this style too).

Thanks again appreciate the suggestions +1 to all (edit - I have given out too much rep... will catch up with you few soon).

awesome video, I personally paid attention because I checked out the first dub turbo, so I wanted to see what was new. This new version looks great, ill have to check it out. Keep up the good work!

great attempt!

have you guys seen the TruthAboutAbs video? it's pretty dang good... he mentioned in one of his newsletters that he doubled his conversion rate by using this whiteboarding video instead of the pure 'text' one...

Yo dawg, I heard you like whiteboarding. So I whiteboarded in your whiteboard so you can whiteboard while you whiteboard.

(I likey)

I actually didn't like this part. I was like... WTF is going on and where am I looking.

Cool effect but i wasn't listening to what was being said at all.

Other thoughts:

+ on the software video being too small. I would have gotten a lot more out of the screen grabs if i was only zoomed to like the top left 1/4 or 1/2 of the screen

At minimum just have it be just the screen and eliminate the cool borders around the video.

I personally wasn't thrown off by the mix of 3d and white-board.

I also like the chicks voice. A 'rapper' voice would have annoyed me. I'm after information not street slang.

Yes the blue marker sucks.

OVERALL: Awesome vid!

If the voice worked well last time, ignore me and stick with it. ;)

Re: the content, the key to making this stuff awesome is to edit RUTHLESSLY. You pretty much need to go through second by second and ask "does this advance the story?". If it doesn't, cut it. It's the same as if you were writing a salesletter.

I thought the video was great. I liked the white boarding and the female v/o reminded me of a giant corporate software company and adds credibility to the software. I thought the graphics and backgrounds really popped. My big suggestion would be to cut the video in half (i shut it off at 2:37 for no apparent reason) you can always make more videos. Just remember that the only thing the buyer wants to know is whats in it for them so keep it simple.

Another point that popped up in my head was that some of the cartoon faces are butt-ugly.

This could become a problem if the cartoon represents the user/viewer who is interested in the program. Like here:

Make the faces funny, ok, make them ugly - I would say that is a no go.
