My First Go At This Business - What Needs Fixin'?

Hey Doods - I've been reading a lot here and decided to finally get off my ass and do something.

The plan for this site is to unite fans of the British TV show The Mighty Boosh under a common frustration that the DVDs aren't available in a compatible format for US DVD players. I also hoped to make it a general fan site, with links to other related products on amazon as well as Netflix.

So that's my plan. Here's what I have so far:

I'm mostly looking for advice about site design/content. I'm in the beginning stages of promoting, but I'd certainly welcome any comments on that front.

never seen the show. not a bad idea in theory, but wondering how big your target market is and, if you're shleppin DVDs, how profitable that could be at a maximum.

otherwise, you need to make a header graphic that reflects the show... an artsy lil thing that has elements from the show in it.. in my opinion at least.
 
Cool, thanks man. Yeah, I was wondering how much money is really in the whole market. Although for this first one, my main goal is just to get what's there. If I can do that it's a huge moral victory and I'll be pretty damn motivated.

Also, you're right about the header graphic.
 
If anything it will be a nice little project to learn from, even if it ends up as an epic failure. I say, good for you for at least taking some action. Do whatever you can to learn from the experience and don't be too married to the concept to scrap it if you later find out it sucks.

If it catches fire, then that would be nice too.
 
Love the Boosh. Can't beleive you can't buy it in the US!

You might have a nice niche there. I bet you would be surprised how many UK TV junkies there are in the US. Definitely worth a try.

Are you going to do PPC, SEO or some social stuff?

Like others have said, try it. If it fails, move on. If it works, build on it.

I love the idea for the site, because I love the Mighty Boosh... but good luck. I live in the middle of the U.S. and know quite a few people... and out of every single person I know in the entire world, maybe 3 of them know what the Mighty Boosh is.
