My FLV player shows poor quality video even if video is high quality

I had a custom FLV player created for me about 2 weeks ago and I noticed something: no matter how high quality the video is before I load it through the player, it will lose a bunch of quality after.

The same thing happens with every video, and every video lessens to the exact same quality so I'm wondering if there's a certain parameter I need in the code to fix this.

So what is your source? Did you encode it over to a Flash 10 FLV file, or is the player trying to load it from an mp4 source or such?
