My iMac finally came in, just wanted to share first impressions.

The LED screen...amazing. The 27" actually does feel a bit smaller than my previous 30", but now that both are there it's not really a big deal.

It seems people have been hating pretty hard on the Magic Mouse as well...I don't see what the big fuss is about. I actually like it a lot, it works perfectly. I guess I'll have to wait and see if this performance keeps up, but right clicking can actually be done, the scrolling works well and going back and forth is really nice.

As far as the computer's performance, we'll have to wait and see how she does when I install all of my old applications, but right now I opened up every app I could and the computer didn't slow down at all.

My only question :

I'm hooking up dual monitors with my old Apple Cinema HD display. I got the mini display/DVI converter, so I've plugged in the DVI, the USB, but NOT the Firewire. It's the wrong type (coming out of my old display) and doesn't fit into the new iMac. So just the DVI and USB are connected.

It does display, but the maximum resolution I can set it at is much lower than what it actually is. It's saying 1280 x 800 is the highest resolution, which is horrible. Is this because of the firewire cable not being plugged in? Which would mean I would have to run out and get a converter.

For the new iMacs you need 2 "new" connectors to dual screen it. One is $30 and one is $20, i don't know the exact names of each but apparently only Apple's connections will work and give the maximum output (according to them).

It's sad that mac users get so excited about a right button on their new mouses. Guess I'm just spoiled using PC's :D

I was commenting on the mouse that seemed to get a lot of bad reviews, and said I don't think it's as bad as everyone says. Not really sure if that qualifies as being excited about the right click feature ;).

27" usually is smaller than 30"

Yeah but when I had people over to just "check it out" they said it didn't look like much of a difference in size. But when using the 30" every day, the small change felt a lot bigger than it looks.

I'm fucking with ya, I'm one of those guys that actually doesn't care about the machine's name as long as it gets the job done.

shhhhh....don't tell anyone though

seems more like a noob tech question with a steve jobs worshipping introhttp://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...=result&cd=1&ved=0CA8QBSgA&q=thorough&spell=1

xboxlive - obivously i dont condone this persons activities but why are people so worried about the dead soldiers? i dont think anyone here feels bad for people that lterally live 100% off other peoples direct tax dollars who end up causing people in other countries to blow up our buildings will planes because they are bombing them with missile destroyers all day. less soldiers = less money stolen from me and less people hating me just because my money is stolen every quarter and used to harass them.

Do you have a useless opinion about everything?

For right click is it still one button, and to right click you press on the right side? Or are there two buttons now?

same concept as the mighty mouse...you need to lift the left finger for it to work...

It's sad to see that people need to have a left and right click button on their track pads...maybe i'm just spoiled using the 1 button multi touch trackpad that does left and right click, plus gestures...

Paul, why didn't you just get a super insane mac pro with two 30 inch screens... its what i have

IMAC can't compare to the latest GEN mac pro.... its a fucken beast

This.

Why have 2 buttons when you can have one that does the same thing, plus a whole lot more.

I keep waiting for the rumored 6 core update, the last 2 apple machines I've bought about 5 weeks before major releases.

The new mouse is a PITA to use. How is that design comfortable? Maybe I just have big ass hands but I found using the mouse annoying. I couldn't really get a good grip of it.

But goddamn the displays..27" of pure sex.
