Hello All,

I will start soon my 2 nd ecommerce website.

An agency will be designing it and my seo partner will be directly involved in the codding and so on.

However i have few things that i would like to get your advice :

1/ Interface / definition

How do you advice me to "blueprint" the design ? I am thinking one jpg of every core page of the website and write explanation on it.

2/ Validation of the interface.

Do you advice me to use an ergonomic / eye tracking company to validate the design of the website and the overall coherence of it.

3/ Writing of the product description

The website will get around 1500 products, and we need to add those products with the help of 5 people.

However we need to be sure that everyone follow the same guide line for text writing (lenght of product description / elements to input / style etc...)

Do you advice me to ask as well the ergonomic company to define a product description writing guide in order to provide it to each of our staff ?

Thanks for helping me on those points, and as well if you have some advice i will be taking them gladly.

Cheers

As a freelance web application developer, you're spot on with "blueprinting." As both a developer and a designer, it's very helpful to have a mockup of every type of page.

As for validating the interface, I'd hold off until you have a working website that you can A/B test and eye track. Don't optimize until you need to.

As for writing product descriptions, find a good English speaking copywriter that can write copy that converts.

Your first step is to get a site up. Worry about optimizing for conversions once you have something working.
