In a statement, Richard Kirkendall, CEO of Namecheap said:

While we at Namecheap firmly believe in intellectual property rights, SOPA is like detonating a nuclear bomb on the internet when only a surgical strike is necessary. This legislation has the potential to harm the way everyone uses the Internet and to undermine the system itself. At Namecheap, we believe having a free and open Internet is the only option that will continue the legacy of innovation and openess that stands for everything we all value in our modern society.

And ...

On December 29th, we’re offering transfers below cost ($6.99 per transfer) using the coupon code SOPASucks. Additionally, for every domain transfer initiated on the 29th, Namecheap will donate $1 to the Electronic Frontier Foundation, to help them continue the legal fight against SOPA, PROTECT-IP, and other overbroad and ill-considered legislation.

*proud to be a Namecheap customer*

If the Internet goes to shit, I'll simply market to Canadians and Australians. Then I'll learn Chinese and serve our Chinese overlords.

SOPA? Sounds like an acronym for all the other bills that come up every year or so that never end up doing anything.

Oh - another thing ... I just logged into NameCheap

Free Domains from Namecheap:

For a limited time, get a FREE companion .org domain (if available to register) with the purchase of almost any other TLD! This offer will appear automatically in your shopping cart if your original domain is eligible.

Happy Holidays to all of our loyal customers, from all of us at Namecheap!

* a 'companion' .org domain is one that matches the domain you are attempting to register in another TLD. e.g. the companion domain for namecheap.com is namecheap.org
* free .ORG promotion is not valid in case a *coupon code* is used

MAH NIGGA. Brb, registering 8 new domain names [and getting 8 more freeeeeee.]

So glad I never bothered signing up with Godaddy, I hear ... not so good things about them.

The main reason why I never even thought of buying a domain with Godaddy! I appreciate Namecheap's effort though. People should not think twice and should transfer to Namecheap right now.

I believe Namecheap has a 10 domain cap on that coupon discount. Also you may want to check out internet.bs. Transfers are $7.45 regular price including private whois. You can usually find 10% discounts which brings it down to around $6.70. Internet.bs website also states they do not support SOPA. No free .orgs though.

Namecheap can't handle all the transfers and it's pissing me off. I moved a few domains to them, simply because of the coupon (I don't believe for a second that they actually give a shit about SOPA, they just saw a good opportunity to capitalize on GoDaddy's fuck-up)... Anyway, I've had five domains stuck in "Transferred and paid successfully" status for two days now. They are officially registered with Namecheap now and out of my GoDaddy account, but they aren't actually in my Namecheap account... they're just in limbo and I can't make any changes. Their retarded live support just keeps saying, "Please allow two more hours for the domains to be available in your account". Fuck Namecheap. Fuck GoDaddy. Fuck 'em all.

Even if its true, they've drawn a lot of attention to the situation.

Reminds me of the whole elephant-hunting fiasco this summer... Namecreep stepped up and made a coupon for people to jump ship then too!

What scavengers... Smart business but man are those guys opportunistic buzzards.

Richard Kirkendall is a prick.

His entire marketing strategy revolves around using Forums to try and Poach GoDaddy customers. He has no business model.

The only reason he is publicly opposing SOPA is because it will make him more money. This is the exact reason GoDaddy is supporting it.... they will profit from it.

Gee how can I get more customers... maybe I'll paint Parsons as a douche for killing an elephant.

A legal kill in a country that relies on hunting/tourism as a major part of their economy. Doesn't matter if it's an Elephant or a Deer or a Lion or a Bear or whatever. Parsons is a douche but he did nothing wrong. So Fuck Kirkendall... a jealous prick who really has no business model.

Hides behind a mail box drop... doesn't offer telephone support. Runs his business like a Dollar Store.

When SOPA passes, it will suck. It's a shit bill that will set the Internet back 15 years and will likely destroy IM for the small independents for good.

But Congress is going to pass it just like they are passing everything else Corporate America WANTS! You don't get obscenely wealthy doing what is right for the people you get rich fucking people over.

We live in a country where we do not elect our officials... they appoint a small group of assholes from which we can pick.

Just look at the Republican Nominations now.

Obama's number 1 campaign contributor Goldman Sachs:

According to Federal Election Commission figures compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics, Goldman Sachs' political action committee and individual contributors who listed the company as their employer donated $994,795 during 2007 and 2008 to Obama's presidential campaign, the second-highest contribution from a company PAC and company employees.

FYI: A special PAC set up by the University of California actually topped them.

Mitt Romney's #1 Campaign Contributor Goldman Sachs:

$235,275
What the fuck? Are they for Romney or Obama?

Answer: It doesn't fucking matter! We have a 1 party system!!!
