Need advice creating a wordpress themes site

Well the title says it all. I have been longing to have a wordpress theme website for a long time. Unlike other websites, i don't want to sell normal themes. Instead, i would like to build, CMS based themes that would help people to create business directly.

So would like some advice with that. I have a team of good coders and wordpress developers. I am sure they can deliver good stuff.

So i would like some ideas on how should i start and how should i advertise make people come towards it.

I have a few scenarios in mind for which i would like to build themes for:

1. Photography portfolio.
2. Automobile News site.

and more of that sort.

I would also appreciate if people could help me with a few more scenarios.

From having combed through tons of wordpress themes, I think that portfolio and auto themes are so common it would probably be hard for you to differentiate yourself. I'd say make a nice local directory theme, all the ones I've seen are crap and it local business directories are pretty popular right now.
