Hi all,
I have a domain name [cityname]gyms.com

So far my ideas are:

Make it directory type site with listings of all the gyms in the city. Monetizing would be charging yearly fee to be listed. But this does not sound very interesting.

Second idea is also listing of all gyms but earnings would come from selling memberships. For instance regular gym membership is 500$ for a year, I make a deal with gym that I get it for 350$, I sell it for 450$ and pocket 100$ (This is just basic description to get the idea).

What would you advice?

Thanks

only a city domain? you should make a national directory (longtail anyone?) and slang health offers off it. at least do an entire state

Sounds good. Now one other thing, how should I make my site useful and "trendy" ? I want people to return to my site for new info etc.

For instance - gym ratings, comments etc. But all these are seen on other directory sites. What else should I add in the mix? Tips on how to stay healthy, tips on how to work out. Ok, maybe, but these are also seen on other sites. Anybody has some advice on this matter?
Thanks

Personally, I would do a review site for the companies. This way, you can call them up and say you run a local review site for gyms, you can pay to get noticed and have people find your gym, and reviews etc. etc.

This of course only if you have the ranking, and traffic.

I am a fan of user generated content. What if site readers can submit their gym (ones they go to) reviews? On the other hand it would be like simple commets (just more in depth).
