Need serious advice...

Alright guys, check this shit out...

First a little bit of background...

Sometime late on August 10th, or early August 11th (middle of the night), a buddy of mine (and many many mutual friends) Matt was found on the outskirts of town, dead.

He had been shot numerous times, in the torso, the head, and the groin.

His truck was found back in the small town I was living in at the time, the town he was from. Someone had attempted to burn it by putting a rag in the tank and lighting it. That failed.

So, let's fast forward to 20 minutes ago...

I posted a bulletin on Myspace, and some random chick on my friends list responded. She just used the bulletin to start general chit chat and hit on me... I didn't click on her profile, and I didn't know who she was.

She said "I'm gonna get offline... You got a number?"
After the usual "I normally charge people... But I guess" crap, I gave her the cell number...

I have a PocketPC phone, so I have a HUGE phonebook. Every number I come across, I save, and keep. You never know.

So, a few minutes later I get a text.
The name shows up in my phonebook as Kayli.

Fuck.

I click on the profile...

Fuck.

Kayli has an older brother, Cody.

Cody is the person that "supposedly" murdered my friend.

I know he did it, everyone knows he did it, but of course he is awaiting trial.

Anyways, the bitch is young... I'm not Pedobear (Chris, want her number? hehe)... So I have no reason to talk to her...

Unless...!

See, I met her once before through a mutual girlie friend... She has NO idea that I was friends with Matt. She probably has no idea that I know about the murder, her brother, or any of that.

I'm very good at bullshitting when I need to.

So here is my question... Should I do the usual back and forth texting and flirting shit with this chick to get on her good side (Im pro at it, I can do it), and try to get information from her?

Rumor has it that her father knew about the murder beforehand... I won't detail why they wanted him dead, but it all matches up... And it is all about this girl.

What would you do?

Oh yeah use a murder investigation as an excuse to nail jailbait. At least pedobear is honest. :)
 
If you are looking for something that will hold up in court, then you need to get the prosecutor involved as soon as you know you can convince them you have something. Otherwise, you run the risk of getting good evidence thrown out.

How about grabbing your "unconventional" friend and deal directly with that guy ... make him go away. Then write a book about it and get it published.
 
I'm taking this graduate level cyber forensics class right now, and this fits in perfectly with what we've been talking about recently. You need to keep every text, log every IM, and generally save every piece of information you get out of her. If you get something that borders on confession, contact the police immediately.

Thank you. Some educated, helpful input. I've already gotten some insane info from her in the past 2 hours... I'm amazed. And yea, I'm saving everything... :)
 
Best advice that I can think of right now is that you need to focus on making the marketing thing work, and getting yourself out of having to deal with these types of situations. I understand that it was your friend and all, but be careful with what you get yourself into.

I just don't think asking for advice from people who might not even be able to fathom putting themselves in your shoes is gonna help you make the best choice.

On a serious note, Definately try to get some inside intel anyway you can, can always hand it over to a private eye, especially if its hard evidence

1. No; don't do text messages! Talking from experience: Nosy brothers come across their sister's text messages, and things don't turn out too well for the guy or the girl.
2. Is she hot?
 
Stay the fuck out of it. Unless the guy murdered was your brother, or a family member, which its not, stay the fuck out.

Lol, no, she isn't hot. And she is more than a year underage... Even Pedobear would be scared.

As far as the messages go, its easier to document than phone calls, and she only has 1 sibling, her brother, who is in jail awaiting trial.

Fuck it. Why bother then? Besides taking up your time, it won't do you any good. Might even hurt your reputation if this ever leaks out.

I'd say stay out of it.
 
Dude if she is around 15 years old I bet she does not know anything. Maybe she knows how her family acted afterwards if it was weird.

But realistically how much about this would you tell your younger sister if you killed someone? And the dad would tell less and know how to cover his emotions better.

She doesnt know anything I bet. Plus someone that does know you could find out that you are texting her. How do you think those "hicks" would repsond?

Your life is a fucking soap opera. Please write a book.
