I'm not sure why I wrote this post, I'm not sure where it will take you or even me. There's no hidden gems in here, or secrets, just something I've experienced as time has passed. Maybe you're traveling down this road now, or perhaps you've already been on it..

N4Kc7jG.jpg

My friends and family used to complain to me (and in fact they still do)...

Why are you spending so much time on the computer?
You are wasting your time on the computer!
You do nothing but play on that computer!
I worked HARD today at work, you can't do that from a computer!
The computer won't EVER pay the bills!

Yes I've heard them all... I work at 9-5? Well more like a flexible every other day 11-5... But every hour at home I am working online. 8+ Hours/day on top of work when I get out of the office.. (In essence I work two jobs, because I'm addicted to working and finally found two jobs I'm equally passionate about). Besides the point.. But I tell people IRL. "If I told you, YOU could make a MILLION dollars next year if you just worked online everyday for the next year would you?".. And everyone says: No! That's not going to happen, that's impossible. (He's crazy right!) (Mother fucker thinking he's Mark Zuckerberg, PSHHH!) "He's totally wasting his time"..

hOXTaoO.jpg

Yet they don't understand the concept of making money online. In fact I don't think they ever will. The people I meet who don't own websites (a tiny 1%), are fascinated that I make money online. And ASK questions. The 99% think I'm full of shit, and am just wasting my time. ODDLY Enough if you tell someone who's already ONLINE they can make money online they will CREAM their pants. Look at WSOs, and Work From Home making $50K scams. People CRAVE that shit, and get burned by it. (Maybe that's why people hate believing you can make money online).

I guess IRL the only way to get people to notice is to drive a LAMBO. And make people ENVY you, and think alright he's REAL about this. I could have $600K in CASH in my bedroom and tell someone IRL I made $20K last month, and they would say No, you didn't. Or "Great", ... Pshh!. (What a liar, stop trying to impress me! - Mentally) UNTIL you are driving an expensive car, wearing a $40K watch, etc. no one will believe you. I guess people want what they can't have, and if they can't see it, they don't want it.

Last month I posted a screenshot of my Amazon account on Facebook to see what people would say.. (I don't EVER do this) Anyways, it was $13,000 last month in revenue. ZERO Likes or comments.

Some girl posts a FB Photo of her face in a shitty Instagram filter photo. 56 Likes. Some guy talks about he's starting a t-shirt company, his products look like pure shit. His business will fail, 100% chance. (Burn out guy (You know the type), he's spent a week at MOST on this little venture). 32 Likes, and comments supporting him. But me? YEARS working on a website business, hours and hours and hours put into HARD work, and No one cares about my success. (Maybe haters? Seems like people would respect it, or be proud to know someone like you). Or even want to learn/ask questions for that matter... I think I have roughly 1,500 people on there? Even friends/family didn't acknowledge it. I'm not mad, I don't hold it against anyone, I'm just curious to see how people respond.

Now I will say this.. I've gotten a TON of support from people online, I mean a TON. From random people I don't even know IRL. (GREAT Motivation). I actually think random people's thoughts and support is WAY better than anyone's IRL. Their's no incentive for them to support you, their just being REAL.

Internet marketing offers an incredible opportunity, it just takes a willingness to accept and commit yourself to it. You CAN BE anything you want to be (Okay maybe not an Astronaut Sloth), but there's nothing to STOP you for making money online. With all the people complaining about not having a job, or on government welfare saying the markets too tough... Aside from the laziness aspect, it's something I will never understand. Online you can be the CEO, the writer, the designer, the coder, the assistant, etc. There are so many jobs out there it's insane...

And what I don't understand the most.. Is why would people rather sit in front of the TV after work, or even in their free time everyday?

0FwGHjs.jpg

Do you have no passion in your life? Do you want to be average? Do you want to work for the rest of your life, knowing you did NOTHING to achieve absolute GREATNESS? Ask yourself, are you OKAY with failure? ... I know average people who will say, "One day I'm going to drive a LAMBO"! Yet all they do is go to college, and end up working for $40K/year.. Or "One day I'm going to be that guy!" (Millionaire guy). But they never put in the hard work, but it's MORE than that, it's accepting the RISK. Willing to break the mold, be creative, stay up all night, and become someone spectacular. A person who's not defined by their paycheck, instead a person who's defined by their ambition, boldness, and willingness to commit to hard work and the risks that come along with it. Because you can never reach success if you've never experienced failure.

I will never settle for average, and I hope you won't either...

First of all, congrats.

A word of advice though: stop caring so much about what other people think.

Most gay webmasters end up making stupid financial mistakes because they want to be perceived as successful, so they spend a huge percentage of their initial $ on a car, on watches or whatever.

Just do your thing and don't fall for that trap.

Yeah, too much focus on what other people think. That alone will fuck up your ability to achieve success and will pull you back down to their peasant level once you achieve it. Grow out of this mindset ASAP.

I took an Adderall and was feeling pretty euphoric as I read your post. I have one comment. I would rather people that I know IRL not acknowledge my success than have them constantly approaching me to show them the ways. In every instance that this has happened, it always turns in to spoon feeding them. When something goes bad, the blame and liability is on you. Don't get me wrong, I would love to be able to help my friends and family make substantial amounts of money but I think that it's better to not draw attention to yourself. Just me though.

Yep, definitely an Adderall-esque post.

I get asked multiple times a week if I can help someone "with their website".

I was in a pub Monday and the landlord asked me what I did for a living. I made the standard "I run a digital marketing company" and the landlord asked me if I could help them to make a website for a couple of beers.

I say I'm too busy, and they think I'm a dick. Good times.

To add to this, it's these same types of people who couldn't make money or put in the effort to run a business even if they were given everything to do it--at the end of the day they are addicted to the idea that it's impossible and that you must trade time for money--they're slow-laners like MJ Demarco said. There is really no hope for people like this and they're the same sheep we make our money from, people like us have a very good position in the hierarchy. Soak it up and enjoy it and your happiness/confidence will be the proof of your level of success/enlightenment.

Yeah, come on, quit being such a dick. I could do what you do too. I have Microsoft Word and Paint as well.

Yeah, people always expect me to "just help them out" which I don't mind doing...but it's always at inopportune times and takes a chunk of my time that could be elsewhere.

It's idiots like you who are responsible for crowding the industry because since your dick is so small, you feel like you have to tell everyone how rich you are.

You're the equivalent of the dumbass gold miner in the 1800s who told everyone that there's gold out in California...plenty for everyone...so come on out and get your share. Then when the gold is gone years later, you wonder why.

Solid advice, it's been a real learning experience for me.. I don't let other people's views affect my overall judgement, but I will attest to being curious as to why people don't aspire to be more.. Have been trying to put it together, but I guess we all are just on different paths in terms of being comfortable/successful.

Nice, I start taking that next week myself! Can't wait.. I agree with everything you've said to the fullest extent. I've always been a more of a giving person instead of taking for myself type of guy, which is something I'm working on and need to change. Often I commit to too much for short of not enough in return for myself. But I haven't reached a point where I've been asked to teach someone in person how to market online. Simply because no one has ever asked in full detail. I've had job opportunities and have been asked to review websites, but nothing that has required me to teach family or friends. Your post is a great reminder that I need to be wise about what commitments I take on and avoid entirely. For the most part, I still haven't bought an expensive car, (skipped the lexus idea), and just have been reinvesting money back into my business. I don't think I'll ever buy anything that gets attention.. Aside from the comforts of a vacation (I miss Las Vegas, even though I don't gamble, lol), that's all I really want. The personal success keeps me going/happy/content.

Way too much emphasis on gaining recognition. It's natural when you first strike gold to want appraise, but you'll gradually realize it yields no benefit. Focus on your own growth, reward yourself accordingly, and if you want to discuss earnings - talk to a like-minded person and "race" them to the next monetary target. I would have been content early in my IM career, were it not for a friend I met on WF that I was competing with for the next $5k, $10k, $20k, $30k profit day. Outside of that, revealing how much you make or seeking appreciation will rarely do you any good.

I love this post, kind of the answer I was looking for.

I respect your opinion. But I haven't done anything other than confessing I work online, and posting a screen shot on FB. For all I know, all of these people won't get the full idea, and if they look for it, most will end up getting stuck in a endless funnel of desperation.. Not to mention there was zero interest or response.. I've only shared those two aspects of my life out of being curious to see how people react. I don't have all the answers, and I've never really found a guide online that explains how you're perceived by other people when you do IM. I won't continue to preach about success anymore, it was a trial of sorts to put to rest curiousness.. I have yet to buy an expensive car, watch, etc. Instead, I choose the option that all of my money is reinvested back in my business, because at the end of the day the recognition I need, I know comes from myself. And yes, I agree with the second part of your post, but I don't think I whole heartily apply to the first part of it.

by posting earnings you attract hatred of 90%+ of non-wf people if you make more than they do.
this is why you do not get fb likes lol
