Written two weeks before Reggie Bush's injury.
When a person thinks of Reggie Bush, they may be inclined to remember his Super Bowl Ring, 1,940 rushing yards and 260 receptions, but now he has voluntarily forfeited his 2005 Heisman Trophy amidst a growing swirl of allegations that the University of Southern California provided him with ‘improper benefits', hundreds of thousands of dollars received by Bush and his family. Though these allegations have been leveled at Bush since 2006, it was his decision to give up his Heisman Trophy on September 14th that has placed him back in the spotlight with a shade of negativity, though there is also abundant support for Bush..
While putting on a good face and tweeting that “Now that this is behind me I look forward to the future…” it was reported by various sources that the Heisman Committee had been threatening to strip him of the award, meaning the forfeiture of the trophy by Bush was hardly voluntary at all. One would wonder whether or not all of the recent stress and publicity, all of the flak he’s received from the media and fans, will affect Bush’s ability to play at his normal level. The short answer is, yes, this will negatively affect his ability. The more time the media concentrates on this matter is more time Reggie Bush has to invest into it, not to mention any further legal issues which may arise – meaning less focus on the Saints and more time spent dealing with personal issues.
