In the beginning, it was sane, and you could, for example, have the "Wall" be the default landing page, but you could insert a widget in the sidebar that had a link to your website.
They changed that, I suppose, to keep people on facebook instead of having them click out to the page owners website.
So, we then all made do with canvas pages. My guess is people are still clicking out to the page owners' websites.
So, now, they'll pretty much shut it down entirely, and you'll have to make the WALL the default page and post your links there....until they shut that down.
This doesn't just suck for IM'ers. Real mom-and-pop places, like restaurants, would like to guide their fans to their websites too, instead of having to replicate everything on the facebook page.
