Can't find a changelog or something that'd give me a hint of the scope of the update. Does anyone know what's new in this version?

Since the whole 1.5 fiasco I will wait for someone else to play around with it for me and upgrade after a week or two.

My host also flagged a mail 5034444444@mobile.att.net in the 202-cronjobs folder.

Edit index.php in the 202-cronjobs folder. Look for this line:

Code:
/* -------- CURL THE WEBSITES TO SEE IF UP OR NOT --------- */
                /*
                $c = new curl("http://party202.com") ;
                $c->setopt(CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION, true) ;
                echo $c->exec() ;
                if ($theError = $c->hasError()) {

                        mail('5034444444@mobile.att.net','Server Down',$theError);
                        echo $theError ;
Change http://party202.com to your tracking URL and change 5034444444@mobile.att.net to your email address. These lines notify you when the server is down.

Thank you.

This will be really useful.

So you guys are using something with a semi-useless hostcheck that has somebody else's tracker and contact info hardcoded into it. Sounds promising for the rest of it.

Good luck bros.

Better than using a hosted solution. Atleast you can view the source.

I'm sure these were overlooked, I don't see Wes and Company as bad people.

Was going to run a speed test on this one - I'm a good writer but know just enough about servers & hosting to get by. What tool would you guys use to get some reliable data on comparing redirects of p202 to lets say... bevo?

Couple minutes after I posted, ran into an old post on browie's blog talking about whichloadsfaster.com.

I used to use p202 unti bevo came out. Since p202 was a bit up in the air, I switched to bevo. Other than the stats interface on bevo crapping out on me at times I've been pretty happy. But always looking for an extra edge to bump those conversion rates after reading posts like Marketers: Reduce Your Latency and Increase Your Profits | Nana Gilbert-Baffoe

the test

Bevo vs Zensix vps running the new prosper. VPS isn't what I'd consider high-performance (e.g. 512ram/768burst, no memcache) compared to some of what you guys use, so take that into consideration w/ the test results below. Also - I'm not that technical of a guy so if anyone has a better way to test I'm all for learning.

test details

  • Did 3 sets of 30 loads of the same page using redirects to my LP from both p202 and bevo.
  • Used the serial testing option to eliminate the sides interfering w/ each other.
  • Cloaking enabled on both p202 and bevo.

test results

  • test 1 - vps 29% faster than bevo 1470ms vs 1900ms
  • test 2 - vps 25% faster than bevo 1457ms vs 1827ms
  • test 3 - vps 25% faster than bevo 1450ms vs 1826ms

question 1)

anyone else want to run a speed test? I'd be interested to see results from p202 on a dedi or more powerful vps vs bevo. If you do, post your specs as well as stats.

question 2)

re: Nana's post - you guys ever run tests on your own load times vs conversions & have any general stats to throw out there? Weighing the hassle of switching from bevo back to p202. I believe the Amazon test results but I've tried mimicking their other tests and didn't produce the same improvements for me so wondering how that concept applies across a wider swath of sites.

Yes, I could test it myself but looking for anecdotal data before I dive in. I have a ton of active campaigns so would probably need my djuggler/ubot guy to automate porting the bevo stuff back over to p202... but if this will equate to real cash in my pocket I''ll do what I have to do.

would love to see more speed tests posted. Wonder why my results were so much different than Mike's. He had bevo much faster & none of my tests came close to bevo coming out ahead. He was using standard redirects though & I was cloaking - wonder if that is a difference maker. Notice the bevo cloak tends to hang a bit.

Just installed to take a look and a nice update from what I see so far.

  • Nerdy Affiliate landing page CTR mod is included
  • "Delete all stats" button in the admin section
  • Mobile browser page to check out quick stats
  • Can now delete traffic sources and affiliate networks
  • Can now add the ad network pixel to your P202 database and use a nifty new pixel tracking code to fire it when you get a lead... so you don't have to give the ad network pixel to your affiliate manager
  • One-click button to add subid to your URLs
  • Apparently faster
That's everything I noticed.

Do you use the hosted version of Bevo?

I just logged into my old Tracking202 account and noticed that they are shutting down the hosted version at the end of this month.
