where the water is wet
OK,

I'm on this wave now that I want to Build a A few Review Websites for a certain niche that from what i have done a check on there is not a website avaliable nor has anyone started one yet. So I'm a bit excited to start this new project. I purchased all my domains to add to my network for this Project i just have a Couple Questions for everyone.

What would be the best Platform to design this Site Review on?

Joomla? Wordpress? Drupal? or hand design the Site?

All my other sites are build on wordpress, joomla and (or) Ecommerce site's! ! !

So i want to do this Right and I know exactly what I want on the Site, how i want the site to look and ideas of functions on the Site.

ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE APPRECIATED.... :playboy_sml:

Joompresspal...couldn't resist...

Most people are probably going to say wordpress or what you feel comfortable in?
What functions are you looking for?

Are you going Joomla 1.6 or 1.5 if you do it in it.

If you're aware of what things you'll need to accomplish, I would recommend using that knowledge and applying it to your decision.

Personally, WPMU is great for "review" sites, allowing you to keep consistency, or make them unique.

Jfreshmia, I figured you'd get more responses on this one. Kinda surprised.

Douglife what widgets do you use on Wordpress to do this?

I've just decided to break down and learn Wordpress. More than the basics, I'm a Joomla guy. After getting their template system out of my head, Wordpress isn't that bad. I've normally tweaked graphics and css of free templates in Wordpress because I don't build in it as much. If there isn't a widget to quickly pull it off it seems like you would have to add custom fields to the pages pull that data into a custom page and write a little php. Didn't seem that major but that still is time you have to use building the system.

I know in Joomla you could build the comparison site in 1.5 with the help of K2.
1.6 not so sure, I cracked that sucker open to make a site recently and put it back away, didn't feel like learning the changes at that moment and there weren't as many modules.

If you build in 1.6 don't fall to in love or make something that is too 1.6 specific because 1.7 comes out in like 5 months.

I was just going to start a thread on this exact topic.. I'm leaning towards a wordpress site, as there seems to be a ton of pre-packaged plugins/themes for it.

Does anyone have a recommendation based on experience?

Thanks

I would persoanlly recommend wordpress. But I am really biased when it comes to content management systems.

wfreview plugin with wordpress works well IMO. Though the plugin is not free reviewpluginforwordpress.com (cant find my affill link :p) but I have used that in the past and has worked for me

I have started, the Site with wordpress and it seems to be getting hit, i mean so far nothing huge, but it is working. But i want to be able to do product comparison, and product review. Like in toptenreviews.com ( i think this is perfect format )
