Hello, New to the board and thought I would leave a quick hello before I just started posting. I've worked online for about 5 or 6 years. But just starting now to try out a some mainstream sites. For the past 5 years I have been an adult webmaster. I do well with adult. But wanting to get more into none porn because I am a work at home mom. So, with my daughter at home it has been getting increaseingly hard to get my work done.
So far, from what I have read looks like there is really not much comparison mainstream to the adult. Less traffic for the mainstream and probably higher conversions. Right now I produce about 100k of traffic per day for adult. Doesn't look like with mainsteam you could get that kind of traffic without purchasing it.
I've thought about writing an ebook about making money with adult sites. Would be a big task since there are many different ways of making money with the adult. But for now I'll do some more reading here to get some more ideas on traffic generation, site types etc.

Well not talking about a crap ebook with useless information. I know its pretty bad where you are lucky if an ebook you buy isn't complete crap. I was thinking of more of a step by step that someone could get what they need to start working in adult after reading the ebook.

But for now I'll start reading the forums and see what everyone else is doing.

If you can manage that kind of traffic especially for an adult site I would stay away from eBooks even if they are a well written one, there are lots of better ways to go about it.

I think soon eBooks will be a dead technology, people will begin to trust them less and less for information.

"Depends on what you want to do with you're___________(in your case e-book"

As you look around you'll see the number one longatail is "depends on what you want to with your site"

If I set up an AM, ARBI or SEO website I'd use that!

What is AM? Sorry haven't come across that one yet.

I don't agree, ebooks are becoming more popular among average surfers and some schools are even recommending them for research. Some ebooks are shit, some are good.
They are no different from hardback books it depends on the author and your interests. As hardback books become less popular which is already happening, more authors will start writing digital products and the market will only get bigger.

True, You've got a point with the vast amount of areas eBooks are covering there is still an open market for them.

I still believe that e-books should be free, no mater what the topic. (It is the anarchist in me.)

I have friends who only publish academic texts/ articles in e-book format to save their students/ colleagues money--They also believe that there is a conspiracy involving textbook publishers.

There are a few services around that will turn your ebook/text into a hard copy "proper book" - complete with ISBN. They either sell it to you in bulk or print it to order. (Sorry I can't be bothered to search for a link!) Something like this might help avoid the stigma attached to ebooks.

Maybe produce a guide and sell it offline as well? - If you can get it in the right kind of stores it might appeal to guys (& girls) with an interest in "adult entertainment" who might've not considered making money from it - especially if you spice it up with some nice example screenshots! ;)

Yeah I'll have to give it some more thought. If I do go ahead with the ebook it would definitely be nothing like alot of the crap ebooks I have seen.

Its funny I have a good number of ebooks here. Traffic, seo, make money online, blah blah. I dont' think after reading any of them that I actually have learned anything useful.

If you must do an ebook, make it awesome. Make it free. Collect email addresses and deliver your ebook after they subscribe.

And by all means, do not do an ebook about internet marketing. Find a niche. Get leads (cash) from your email list.

Well I think how to profit with selling porn is a good niche. I would never give it away free. The info I have in my little head took me 6 years of hard work and I won't be giving it away for nothing.
