I've been doing quite a bit of homework concerning affiliate marketing for a while now and am finally ready to take action. However, I'm having some trouble with getting approved for a CPA network. When I've spoken with a network over the phone, they've explained that they generally would require someone to have some experience and/or proof of value. It's like the old can't get a job without experience conundrum. In my searching on the topic of getting approved I've heard it helps to have a a site to show, but I don't have any as I haven't done anything with AM yet. What kind of site would one generally have already to show before getting into a network? I've been considering trying to create and monetize a local business niche directory, so that could be helpful. The issue with this being the time to really get it running though.

Anyway, can anyone recommend some networks that won't give someone new too much of an issue getting a foot in the door? It'd be much appreciated.. It sucks finally breaking through a mental road block holding you back to instantly facing a real one, lol.

A site that is monetized using Amazon Affiliates, Clickbank, Commission Junction, etc. & whose main traffic streams are Search and Email. If they continue to tell you they need proof of value, work on a niche site and SEO that shit until you've got it on the front page of Google for all your targeted keywords. Then get traffic, then money, then re-apply.

I didn't know that. I thought networks just wanted proof that a noob could throw up a decent site, not that it actually had to be earning or ranked already.

So I assume from the answer, that Amazon, CB and CJ don't ask for any proof of competence when you sign up for them?

On slight tangent, I'm also interested in noob-friendly networks for European residents. Or perhaps the American networks won't care that I live in Europe? Wouldn't the time difference be a snag though?

Cheers.

Most networks are pretty newb friendly. Hell EWA personally got my off the ground just by my AM giving me ideas. I tested a few and hit gold. In reality, most networks are willing to work with you to get you off the ground because most likely if a network helps you get going, you are probably going to stay loyal to them , which in the long run makes them money. What types of offers are you really looking to start in? Dating and Email/Zip Submits are fairly common.

As the poster above said, are CB and CJ easier to get into then than some others? I haven't applied with these two yet. But yeah, that may end up being what I do with some local SEO.

Nice! If I remember correctly a forum member here runs EWA, right? I may have to give it a try, maybe they'd help me out, or anyone else who owns/has some pull with a network around here. *wink wink nudge nudge*.

As for offers, I'd like to try a number of things and feel it out. I've got a decent amount of disposable income I can dedicate to this, so I can afford to play the field a bit.

Tattomedia is pretty easy to get into. That don't have as many offers, but they have a lot similar ones you'll see on other CPA networks.

exactly.

And I don't see the problem approving new affiliates, I really don't get all this VIP feeling around approving someone. Worst thing that happens, there won't be conversions. They should monitor your lead quality in any case.

Throw up a quick wordpress blog and slap some content on there, this will be ok for most network requiring you to have a site.

Or simply switch to another network.

As far as what I've seen in many discussions, just telling them what you plan to do, or simply telling you have no experience and need guidance, can get you in.
