Just starting IM/AM thing 4 weeks into it.

Feel like I am alittle late in the game. Am older and a female.

Was going about things -whitehat.

Found this forum - now I am being pulled into the 'wickedfire'.

But - read about some puppy throat slasher thingy yesterday, and haven't got the image out of my mind since. -got a tony soprano thing with animals.

well learning ALOT from here - got the vision, just need the time, and least amount of investment. site up, need content - might try some of products mentioned in WF - though the tools sites are all the same with LONG, LONG reading...blah - I just skim to the bottom to see how much they want..

thats it.

any other lost newbies out there - lets chat.:rasta: otherwise i guess this is where i get slapped around...:action-smiley-052:

late in the game, never!

I am also female and "older", you are definitely not TOO late. I started in Internet marketing 2 months ago. In the space of 2 months I have learnt so much and I am gradullay feeling more confident (I have even made a few sales).

I think that as a newbie the first thing on the list is to get basic Internet Marketing skills, once you acquire these skills, stick to 1 plan at a time until you succeed.

Good luck and keep in touch:food-smiley-010:

@nickitta and dchuk - thank you for your responses and advice. Been logging in and plugging all this info into the old grey matter. I think it's good but it's also a way for me to avoid writing 'content', arghhh. Not being too hard on myself as I made great progress considering I've got two kids still in diapers around. Good thing I am still used to being fully functional with little sleep. :o)

I am on involuntary hiatus from the corporate world and am dragging my feet to return - hoping this can replace my 9-5. Hubby thinks I should return to the grind cause this new 'hobby' isn't going to replace my salary. But I 'feel' like it could.
Oh well - I am sure some in here do this as their 'real job'. We'll see!

Good luck in your pursuits as well! Gonna print and read...

I second this statement.
Thirded. And, dchuk is pretty helpful as well to the noobs with fuctioning brains.

EDIT: starting out, just make sure you spend at least twice as much time acting on what you read as you do reading.

Will do. Last night I broke my big massive blog into 3 niche specific landing/page-sites -with keyworded site names. :o) making much more sense now.

Gonna read/print more, maybe poke around in here to see if anyone's bragging on how much money they make and how quickly they did it.....looking for some penis envy as 'motivation'.

ciao.

Thank you guys. Its all pretty exciting, can't wait to post some learnings - bad or good, soon. Right now, I feel like I'm cramming for some big exam/project..

Yes!! What a rush!

Hello Meme,

Don't buy tools starting out. Do everything by hand so you'll learn what the concepts do and see how much work is involved to get something done so you'll actually understand what tools do.

You're already reading lots, so make sure you read the stickies in the traffic and content forum, especially The Mother Fucking SEO Question and Answer Thread.

Hey WF -

Woke up today and checked - I got my first lead!! And I have to say I got ALOT of FREE information from this forum! Thank you! I didn't end up buying any tools (yet) - thanks for the savings Rexibit. Its so true that you learn alot by going thru all the motions.

Its a nice 'high' actually, but its been a roller coaster ride, learning all this material. Feeling like I kinda know what I am doing one day to feeling a total doom-mas the next.

Skipped PPC and went straight to CPL, though I have alittle adsense.
No paid advertising either. I am not fully done with my site but thought I'd just throw it up there plug it in some 'places' for free, and people were coming in and actually bought in. Hmm..

More work to do!! Still got my other sites to put up, but I think it will be much quicker this time around. - I hate Photoshop - got it as a torrent and its like rocket-science.

Very nice mate, I'm glad it's working out for you.

There's no need to hate Photoshop. Yeah, it does take some time to learn, but there's a lot of free tutorials online. Read some. Photoshop is great for making your ads and other images, now if you're going to be doing layouts of your websites then you probably need to use Fireworks. Fireworks is a lot easier than Photoshop to make website mockups.

Thanks again for the tip. Quick question - do you recommend a 'free' and reputable site for market analysis/product analysis/demographics? Not for the keywords.

Assuming a target population isn't always that great. Like I 'assumed' my Product A hits a certain demographic, but when I asked my AM - he actually told me something different, though he didn't have any analysis reports to provide me?
