How is everyone? I am new to affiliate marketing and am trying to learn as much as I can. This has probably been answered before but I was not able to find the answer using the search feature on this site. When people advise others to build a website using Wordpress are they referring to the blog site? If so, how can you build a site that way? Thanks in advance for the help...

No, what they mean is, you register a domain name (Namecheap.com - Cheap domain name registration, renewal and transfers - Free SSL Certificates - Web Hosting - Free URL Forwarding, e-mail forwarding and DNS services are included with our cheap domain names registration service) and get a good hosting service (Web Hosting, Reseller Hosting, and Dedicated Servers - Website Hosting w/ cPanel - HostGator) to run it.
Once you get all set up, you'll be given access to your hosting service's control panel, from which you basically 'install' wordpress on your website.
I was confused just like you about this when I first started out, but it doesnt mean you go to wordpress.com and make your own blog.

First off, thank you for the reply! Secondly, in essence, I start out with a "blank" web page and install word press which I use to create the content on the page. Is that about right?

then your going to buy your hosting (check my sig)
then your going to get a copy of wordpress (wordpress.org i think.)
then your going to install your wordpress distro to your hosting, then redirect your URL from namecheap to your hostgator hosting, and you have a webpage.
now you need to go into your wordpress installation and add content, and you can find wordpress tutorials all over the place

If you choose a host with fantastico then you can install wordpress from your host control panel. It will setup your install and mysql database for you and it takes less than 5 seconds to do it. All you do is fill in the short form.
Once installed get to know wordpress.org. On themes. Free is not always the best. I know you will want start off with free but at least get a few goods ones to start with. Free | Premium News Theme
