I'll reserve comment.

Ahh, my bad.

I clicked a link and posted it, assumed it was recent due to the current environment with the push for gun control.

Still, fuck.

I read an article in Esquire a few years ago about Cory Booker and his crusade to lower the crime rate in Newark. I forget exactly what he did, but I think he managed to reduce the number of homicides in city for the first time in 50 years or something similarly impressive. Hence, he's captain crime now.

Once I read an article about how some big city reduced felonies by 25% in one year when the new guy took over. The guy reclassified felonies as misdemeanors, all of a sudden, there was "lower crime". True Story.

I forgot that city's name... oh yeah, that was Miami, FL... I guess I'll carry on...

lol, yeah, I'm sure Booker employed that method as well.

It looks like murder rates continue to rise in Newark, and his first-term murder victory was just a lucky break for him.

Newark has long been plagued by crime and corruption and it's not something that can quickly be fixed, but Mayor Booker has some interesting programs in place - check out this interview from 2008: Preventing Crime With Tech: The Newark Experiment | TechCrunch

For anybody who didn't watch the video, this is about illegal guns: NJ Mayor: $1,000 to turn in your gun owning neighbors - YouTube

Also, overall crime index numbers are down since he took office: http://www.city-data.com/crime/crime-Newark-New-Jersey.html

How would a "neighbor" know that the gun is illegal? So your wonderful "neighbor" can call the cops and say hey so and so has a gun i think its illegal and they show up and do a raid?

wtf is this country comin to.

If you want to get rid of illegal guns, you pass a law saying you cant have such guns.
Then criminals wont have such guns, simple.

which guns should be on your list? The ones that shoot fast? Or the black ones?

If you look at citys for example that have strong handgun laws... there is no handgun crime. Criminals dont use handguns for crimes because it is illegal.
This is very easy to solve, just outlaw what you dont like and you wont have any problems with said item.

Outlaw 16oz soda, for example and people wont drink soda. Its very simple and straight forward really.
