Now THATS a fucking Game!

Sup LukeP!

I'm not high check out this video, I think this compliments the future of video games too.

Crysis 3

2/10 would use to lure little kids into vans with, not play.

Looks good, but not original in execution. They are simply expanding out the idea from the creators of Skylanders and developing a huge (by the looks of it) sandbox game. Will still probably end up in my house though.

I wouldn't get too excited about this. The developer "Avalanche Games" doesn't have the best track record. Toy Story 3 got some decent reviews but there are a lot of duds in that catalog.

That looks far to violent. We should talk about banning it under the disguise of banning guns.

Sorry couldn't help myself.

What it is, is a genius move to bring in-app purchases to the real world, just like Skylanders did.

I know parents who've dropped $15 per character and have all, what, 40? of them.

Nah, they will just restrict all in-game guns to 10 rounds per mag.

Reminds me of Skylanders. I played that all the time before my son lost a key piece :|

This one is going to be free to play, don't know how much longer before they open the beta:

And Skyfire wins the contest!!

All of the rest of you; You have all just demonstrated that you look at video games as fun to play, not a revenue source.

Disney is going to make so much damn money selling those little figures it'll be like they opened another damn theme park.

This, my friends, may not be pretty, but it is the future of big-money gaming.

This is everything that is wrong in video games...

You're right, it is "big" ... it's certainly not a new concept. They've been doing this for the past 10 years, so i'm surprised at your excitement about it... this concept is as "new" as acai.

in-game purchases are nothing new.

See any apple/android/google play marketplace games, free to play steam games, etc, etc.

it's revolutionary because Disney did it?

My kid tried to get me to install a similar thing on his computer (some Aunt gave him it) and it's the exact same concept as what OP posted.

It wouldn't install because it required winXP (or lower).........

...... this is not a new concept, if you think it is, then you're so behind the curve it's laughable. No offence LukeP, i like a lot of your posts. but you're not really on the ball on the tech side of things, i think your chromebook premonitions pretty much proved that.

It's not the future, its the present, and the past. Do your research before hyping up very old concepts.

I do not think is it because they did it.

It is because they did it though, the branding behind this game will be very big. The characters are already in high demand for other things.

IF Disney does get this right you have to remember they own a shit load of shit

This would open the door to a Marvel game like this, A Star Wars game like this, This will make them LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of money is his point.

Disney will do it bigger better and stronger. At least that is what the thought is.

The business model for this has been tried and tested over and over again though.....

Parents are willing to buy the startup kit, and maybe 2 or 3 characters max, then they realise that they're effectively buying "in app purchases" in the form of physical action figures.

The novelty wears off, fast. I agree disney will throw their weight around with this, but it's an old concept. One that's had a very unsuccessful past.
