Symantec urges users to disable pcAnywhere
January 26, 2012
Symantec is recommending that users of its pcAnywhere software disable the product following the theft of source code from the US computer security firm.
Heard about this at work today. Not easy to just "disable the product" when we use it to dial into like 5000 customer locations across the country. The security warning has been swept under the carpet, and I suspect this will be repeated across a lot of bigger businesses. A company still using modems to access remote computers when broadband has been available for years clearly does not understand enough to give a shit.
Also pretty funny that Symantec, who make their money based on the trust people have in the company's ability to secure a PC, have had their computers hacked.
RDP is good I gues, Team Viewer as well, I didn't even know pcAnywhere was still out there lol btw, I've been hearing about this Audials Anywhere soft lately, any idea how it is working? looked but couldn't find a lot about it
