Outsourcing? Seven Reasons Why You Shouldn't Always Choose "The Lowest Bidder"

Outsourcing? Seven Reasons Why You Shouldn't Always Choose "The Lowest Bidder"

True or false? Choosing the lowest bidder is a great way for business to reduce costs.

It all depends on WHAT you're bidding on. Do you need someone to supply, say, a few thousand nuts and bolts or packaging units? If you're looking for bids on some standardized durable item, then bidding makes sense.

Competitive bidding may even make sense for a large project within well-defined parameters.

As long as somebody monitors quality.

But when it comes to creative projects here, the lowest bidder may not be the best choice. Here's why-

1. The writer may not understand the scope of the project. Is the bid for one article or 50?

2. The writer may be someone who speaks English as a second language, located in a third world country where $3 is a veritable fortune. There's nothing wrong with that. Unless of course, they give you a blog that says something like "we please like provide with you the best service can you get on this Internet."

3. The writer may be using automated software to rewrite articles. Too many of these programs either rearrange sentences or replace words with synonyms. I can write about an automobile, a car, a convertible, a jalopy, a hot rod, or even a "beater" or a "hoopty" depending on the context. That doesn't make the terms interchangeable.

4. The writer may not be familiar with common idioms. A realtor will know about fsbo's, and a handyman will know that not all snakes are living creatures.

5. "You get what you pay for" is a cliche for a very good reason.

6. It isn't me. I'm probably not the lowest bidder on your project because I won't settle for fifty cents an hour to deliver crap. I write quality original articles with guaranteed perfect spelling and acceptable grammar. My best writing style is casual, and may not please a formal or automated "grammar checker".

But EVERY ORIGINAL ARTICLE I HAVE EVER WRITTEN AND SUBMITTED TO ARTICLE SITES OR HUMAN EDITORS HAS BEEN ACCEPTED.

7. Finally, if the lowest bidder IS me, then disregard items "1" through "4". As for "5", I'm just getting back into working online after 5 years of chaotic life changes and I need the references. So grab a bargain while you can. Send me a test assignment and see what happens!

I am willing to start at $1 per 100 words at present.

Awaiting a good response. ;)

well done ... had to look up and see it was the content section before I realized it was a sales pitch.

I don't need content frequently but I'm about to hit you with 500 words via PM for your efforts here.

edit: errr, uhhh, actually I'm not since you can't PM until you get ~10 posts. How do you propose we do this?

Hello,

I am Vikram, personal assistant to Mr Ian Cox. I am pleased to be informing you that Mr Cox is accepting of your most kind offer of five hundred words. Please to call Calcutta 56510 to discuss at your earliest convenience a time and date for the exchange.

lulz, well played.

I'll make it 800 words just so I can get a response from your other offices in Bangladesh.

With no posts and no itrader can't believe nobody has chimed into this thread with a "review copy please" comment. wicked fire is getting soft......

so anyway, give me a free review copy of 300 words and if its good I will order a bunch of articles from you

I don't know the OP but if a 64 post wonder walked in and demanded something for free I'd tell him to eat a dick.

Review copies are not for your entertainment purpose, they're only to protect WFers ... it's my opinion that the first post should be treated like a review since the English is better than most and the thread made me double check whether it was posted in traffic & content or SBT/content.

Either way, it's good enough for me and my post count > yours by a few. If the article is shit, I'll be happy to let you know.

Fair enough, happy to wait on your review. But with potentially a 25x500 word order in the offing I wanted to see what the OP writing style was like for a specific article.

Easy enough for someone with decent english to make a post and then outsource the work to others who don't meet that standard. I have been burnt on a couple of occasions like this on this forum.

As for post count, I can add a few hundred pretty easily with a bunch of lol and hurr hurr comments in the shooting the shit section but does that add anything to WF?

Review copy delivered to Erect.

Jwm: I could give you a 50% off on the first 5 articles that you order. This way you will rest assured that these words are scribbled by me and not some random dick claiming himself as a Native. :D

Let me know if it works for you!

All right ... review time.

My article was great, to say the least.

No misspellings, perfect punctuation .. if this cat's not American College educated, I'm not erect 24/7.

My project was well thought out and researched, I had actually done what he wrote about in my day job 10 years or so ago and everything written was 100% correct, no BS.

Honestly, I think Ian should put together a premium price and attack sales heavy landing pages or digg bait content writing for serious AMs. He's way too damn good to be peddling content to your adsense blogs, I'm talking extremely conversion friendly writing here.

I really wished I had more stuff to send Ian's way, but as I said in my first post, I really don't have much of a need for this service ... his sales pitch just caught my eye.

I HIGHLY recommend that you guys take full advantage of his services before his schedule is totally full with regular customers.

Disclaimer: I have full intentions of paying, although I've not received a bill or method of payment yet so this is not some BS good review because I "got something for free". I'm also not known to pussyfoot around reviews, I tell it like it is & Ian's the real motherfuckin' deal ya'll.

Sounds good PM on its way

Real nice sales page Ian Cox. I'm sure you'll catch a few customers with that tactfully written script. :D

Yea, he started off great but has not replied to anyone (I'm aware of) since delivering my review. For the moment, I'm reserving giving you shit for being a flake just in case something serious happened.

jwm, did you lock him away in your basement for a month doing work?

Ian, if you're still here make a post or PM me.

OMG! I never even in my wildest dreams thought that Wickedfire has so many opportunities to throw at me.

Well, I have my job at the workshop after which am back home, have my dinner and then get down to do some part time job (writing, of course)

I apologize to all those who have been waiting for my PM. I was terribly caught up with my workshop.

Having said that, I must admit, it was a good surprise to see my thread running so well. I guess, I have underestimated myself.

Good shit, if I get enough business , I might just let pass my workshop :P

Once again, am sorry to all those who have been waiting for one freaking reply!

I repeated my "Sorry" only because am off on a summer holiday. Yes that might really pull my rep down here (not so sure), but before I leave I will try my best to do something for someone (or some people)

Peace!!

Yep, we've got a few bucks floating around this place and almost everyone needs content (to some extent) than converts.

No need to be sorry, and don't worry about your rep going down due to work/holidays ... many here still have a 9-5 or school holding them back.

And don't take my comments above too seriously. WF is a pretty harsh place & we're all assholes (except the bitchez) ... just read around and you'll see what I mean.

Good to have you back & great luck on your business

Haha, I am glad to know this "WF is a pretty harsh place & we're all assholes (except the bitchez)" because I fit the bill so well, well, WELL. haha
