I'm looking for someone to outsource web design to for cheap. They have to have a semi-decent eye for design (nothing spectacular), and preferably a single person rather than an outsourcing company.

Where would you folks suggest looking for a service such as this? I was thinking of the buy and sell section, but it seems to be more landing page / ad copy oriented.

Be prepared to make slight modifications / revisions yourself if you're trying to get it cheap.

your best bet is to start on a smaller scale with going into the client with a logo design. Outsource your logo design to a forum/website which offers multiple participants (hence - multiple variations/different styles) where you can also specify the price you are willing to pay (and remember you get what you pay for).

From here (and usually within a solid work week) you will have 10-15 concepts to bring to your client all from designers who will most likely have a different style, and you can allow your client to choose which he likes best. This is also going to increase your value with the client; as joe blow from Local Design Company Inc. is only going to be able to provide 1-2 variations with the option to revise it. - If they aren't required to pre-pay. If you know where to look - you can literally not charge the client anything up front, and show them those 10 or 15 concepts with a total out of pocket expense for about $20 paypal.

Once you sell your client on the logo, you up sell the web design, and base their logo design off how you will construct the rest of the site layout (colors/theme/etc) - which allows you to talk bigger numbers ($$ wise) - in terms of how many pages, any server side/dynamic content involved, etc.

Once you crunch the numbers and lock the design/development contract, and deliver on time and on budget - with their jaw literally dropping...you up sell them on SEO, managing PPC campaigns, etc, etc, literally endless possibilities, and by that time you are an asset in the clients eyes and most likely will start to receive word of mouth references if we are talking local - it only takes 1.

The basic principal here is that you can literally take $100 and get your foot in the door to 5 different companies who look like they need some help in the online world. From there the possibilities are completely in your hands.

These sort of replies is what makes me love this site..

That's REAL great information!

I know of two good website designers, both from Peru so I guess they'll be cheaper than a designer in the US. Drop me a line if interested.

I needed a local website designer a couple of months back, and posted a ad on
Kijjiji. Within 4 days I had about 13 responses and found some great designers who produced quality work for very responable prices. With the way the economy is you can find quality designers almost anywhere just ready to pounce and make some moneyy. Hope this has been helpful. Have a great day!

Depending on what you're looking for, there are some pretty good designers for supercheap right here in B/S/T. 99designs and Elance are pretty good options as well

Hi there.

Why do you preferred freelancer? I would suggest that outsourcing company/firm has a lot of advantages compare to an individual. In terms of communication and the project itself. Reputable firm has supervisor who manage their employees to ensure the quality and productivity of the job.

Use:
99designs - $150ish 75 designs approx
eLance - $10-100ish
oDesk - $10-50ish

All of them have tons of designers. You can get LP's done on the cheap. Just be really clear in your descriptions - provide a wire frame or example page if possible - and get it done.

You're probably looking at $10-50 (oDesk specifically) if you do it right.

Personally I have hired people right here on these forums and have had pretty good luck. Generally what I do is I ask for a portfolio. What I have found is that most people have a style that they are good at. If their style doesn't match what I have in my head or if it doesn't work for what I am looking for then I move on. However, if you like someone's style and think it matches what you are looking for then they probably can deliver.

I typically pay around the $50.00 - $65.00 for web design and delivering it in HTML / CSS format.

elance, odesk, and if you want touch ups and smaller scale work done later, have a look at fiverr as well

but really, if you have any dev/designer friends, having them recommend you would be the best
