Over-sleeping

I imagine since many of you work from home that you may have experience with this. Recently, I find myself sleeping pretty insane amounts. Last night, for example, went to bed at 8pm and woke at 12pm. 16 hours. Still tired and feel as though I could sleep an additional 8 hours easily.

I've been watching what I eat, exercising, and it doesn't really seem to help. Any of you ever experience anything like this?

What is your sleep schedule like on a normal basis? The reason I'm asking is because I severely fucked up my sleep schedule over the last two weeks and basically have been getting 2-4 hours of sleep a night or none at all. I'm in for a real treat when I finally crash.

I try to maintain a 9-5 type schedule. Wake at around 7am, head to bed at 11:30pm-12am

Just finding it more and more difficult to maintain this schedule lately.

I've been doing this like crazy and it pisses me off.

I've been trying to think about my sleep cycles, biorhythms, etc, to figure out the best time to set my alarm. 5:30 AM, 8 AM, or 9:30 AM are the best. Been shooting for 5:30, hitting 8 some, but more often than not, 11 AM. That's like 10-12 hours a night. Getting old.

I've found slamming down a cup of cold water upon waking to help immensely. Also setting up a routine .... something along the lines of working out at set times during the day.... eating at the same time everyday. Minor stuff like that.

Sad about something ?

Lost the will to live ?

Depressed ?

You just need money taken out of your CC monthly and all your problems will be solved :thefinger:

I don't feel particularly depressed. All things considered, I have it pretty good. Although, motivation in regards to work has seriously declined, but I imagine that's natural when you feel zapped from oversleeping.

Never really been through anything like this. I had a friend that went through something like this and it was linked to depression.

Anyways I maintain a pretty solid 1am-8am schedule. Something I find helps is to drink a glass of water before bed. I find myself naturally waking up before the alarm clock to go take a leak. After that I force myself downstairs and go through my morning routine.

Last night I took melatonin pills, 2 typtophan pills, drank 2 bag of sleepytime tea and smoked 1g of chronic indica and it took me 5.5 hours to fall asleep. OP, GO FUCK YOURSELF.

I think that 5.5 hours is your body's way of punishing you for putting all that crap in it. :(

Edit: It also sounds like that 5.5 hours would be about the time you would start "coming down" off all that. So the two are probably related.

I have a buddy who use to be able to sleep like this. Don't know that it was linked to anything.

But you're probably just oversleeping. Set an alarm and force your ass out of bed 7-8 hours later (no matter how much you sleep.) If it's a new kind of schedule you just might need some time to adjust to it.

if you're regularly sleeping for 12+ hours you have depression, apnea, chronic fatigue, hayfever, or some other problem. Idk, but get it sorted.

good luck.
