Does anyone have any experience with PPC in Australia? I am looking to launch a campaign in the Au and have a few general questions?

1) As A US company we are not able to purchase .au extensions unless we have a company in the AU, which at present we do not. Has anyone used .com or non .au extensions in the AU, and if so did it convert as well with AU traffic?

2) How did the AU market respond in comparison to your US traffic or UK traffic for the same offer that you were running in the United States or the UK?

3) Where the KW's in the US similar to your KW's in the AU and the UK for your sites? I am assuming they use country specific slang (good day mate!) that needs to be incorporated into your Kw's

4) What are the best Paid search companies in the AU and the UK?

I'm relatively new to AM but will give some of your questions a shot.

Generally having a com.au instills trust that just isn't there with .coms. The quality of .com.au sites is a lot higher and I think they are a lot more trusted since not just anybody can register them. This isn't on any basis other than my own isolated experiences of using both extensions.

A lot of offers that the US love definitely wouldn't work with the australian market. For example, ringtones are performing very bad for me for the aussie market, but I've had lots of success in the US with them. Although, I have never run the same campaign for US and AU traffic so I can't really compare them.

As for ppc companies, google and sensis.com.au are the two most common.

Alan,
Thanks so much for you input. I have heard the same thing about using .au extensions in the AU. I have never tried sensis.com.au so I will give it a whirl. I will report back on my results when they are in. We are not going to launch in teh Au till the first week of July

Dont worry about using slang unless you want to look like a dickhead. The Australian Market will see straight through it

Also its G'day not Good day.

Sensis.com.au is part of the telstra network who owns the largest Broadband provider 'Bigpond'. So you get infront of a fair amount of ppl. However from my personel expereince I haven't got high volume for any of my campaigns with them.

I still use the the big G for 90% of my Aussie PPC campaigns! I find people using the big G are more internet savy therefore a more targeted audience.

With regards to the .com.au extensions, I've only used .com's and dont have any .com.au's and I'm Australain. One of my Oz Ringtone Campagins is running at $1.46 eCPC at the moment with a .com

If you have any other questions about the Oz market PM me.
