Stupid question for the experts (or for those that just know more than me)

So I crack open the yahoo page to check my emails this morning and I find a "Hi, Sherry" in the upper right-hand corner. Wasn't there yesterday. Now that wouldn't be a big deal if my name was Sherry...but it's not. Also, I received a notification from ebay informing me that my account may have been compromised.

Even stranger, when I opened up the mail section, all of a sudden my proper name is perfectly correct and it's MY emails in the inbox.

Here's my question: Has my account been hacked? I know it sure as hell sounds like it, just wanted ya'lls opinions.

After years of having this account, this is the first time this has happened.

Any suggestions? Any ideas??

This is not looking good at all.

Ya, after lurking around here for quite a long time (and popping in just about everyday for the last few months trying to learn all I can about marketing from what I've determined to be the best marketing forum and now buying packages from a few members) I knew I was putting my neck out on the line to get torched.

It is what it is, just wanted to make sure my initial instincts were correct. You know what they say about listening to your gut.

After myowndemon's comment I knew I had unleashed the dogs and the rest of the pack might soon follow. Now I've exposed myself...after all, it's the great smart ass remarks and comments that add to the entertainment (of course there needs to be the asshat that asks stupid questions first. I've seen a shit-ton of those threads.)

Reset your password, move your email and switch to Gmail.

I have a couple of gmail accounts, but never really used them simply because I've never had an issue with yahoo. I've read all the horror stories, but never had them happen to me. Just got into a horribly perceived "safe" rut.

Learning quickly.

Thanks for the simple advice.

Look in your Sent Mail folder. You just might find some emails you didnt send ;)

thanks for popping in O_o.

I did that. It's one of the reasons why I decided to check in WF after not finding anything in G.

It seems as tho there hasn't been any mail sent from my account, unless there's a method for cloaking that. Nothing out of the ordinary has happened just yet. Only the change of name on the yahoo homepage.

Is there a way to bulk load my emails to transfer to the new account or am I screwed have to do it one by one?

@ OP

I had this happen to a customer once. These ones were smart though. He would change his password and then it will change again. Ended up that the person who phished it had set their email up to mail forwarding. He would get the password reset button but so would they. Make sure you double check for that before changing password. Other than that you should be good.
