and charge for banner advertising per impressions (eg. 5.00 per 1000 impressions). Is it standard to show data charts to your advertisers on a regular basis (monthly) showing the activity of their ad? If I was an advertiser I think I would want to see the data but as the owner of the directory that would get to be a pain in the ass to do that on a regular basis for hundreds of advertisers. Or perhaps there is a way to streamline that I'm not thinking of?
 


there's a couple of directory scripts that have that functionality built in.

dynaportal and edirectory for sure.
 
I would use a script so that you can have your own ad server type of thing. It will be better if they signup to your advertising section and then choose when to deposit money, when to show ads, etc.
 
I'm in a different mindset than you turbo, but heres how I figure...
For the niches I target...
When people are searching for say an auto dealership...
You have to weigh out the probability that they are going to see the "Featured" advertiser, and CALL them for more information, not always click the ad to go to the dealer's site.
With this said, It really all depends on how you have things set-up and what niches you are handling.
