Hi there,

I was hit by the Penguin on 4/24. Now many of my sites are ranking in position 590 or 610. Yes, I know it sucks. A few pages survived the catastrophe, but that was basically because they are recommended but hundreds of gay webmasters just because they liked the resource.

I haven't really made any effort to change my situation since then. I opted to wait to see how things evolved with this new "tender" Google beast, but now it's time to take action.

According to Ahrefs, the problem should is caused by so many links pointing to my site with the same anchor text... which happens to be the site's name. No keyword, just the site's name. According to Ahrefs I have over 6000 links with that condition.

The silly question is... to get out of this, all I need to do is to get over 6000 links with varied anchor texts? or what else?

There's no way to take the links out, so that's out of the option. The only way there is to add more. If you're sure that that's the reason it hit you you should get more to balance the equation... Here's my list of generic Keywords you might want to look at... And please remember to do it constantly, I mean do not stop and wait for results. Do it everyday if you have to... I did that with my 2 sites that has been hit from position 1 to 600+ but now it's back on position 5 just battling again with wikipedia and cnet for the second time around :D

Here's the list. Hope it helps you..

PatrickLSO, no, it is not working for me yet. According to the last links report I downloaded from Google Webmaster Tools, I got many new links indexed, most of them from sites related to the keywords I want to rank in, but it is nothing against the flood of incoming links I am getting.

To illustrate, in the old days I submitted my site to web directories by hand, at a rate of about 30 a day. One of those directories' owner found my site interested and posted it among the top 10 sites in his directory. I did not ask for that. I did not pay for that either. I should be thankful, actually. But well, that top 10 link is giving me more than 20 thousand incoming links, which accounts for about 30-something percent of all the incoming links I have.

To add to that, there is this bloody translators' site called Linguee which is scrapping my site to death to create thousands of entries on their site. I have read here...

linguee.com/bot

...how to block it, but I'm not sure whether I should, as I get a little traffic from there too.

Fighting against bots is new for me, so I'll appreciate a line about it.

In the meantime, I'll change strategy, I think. I'm taking Quantcast and Alexa to check which are the most visited sites in the countries I am interested in. I will make a list and see what I can get from there.

Changing domain name to start over is not an option for me.

EDIT: If anyone on Google is reading this, please receive my most sincere fuck you.

You're going to have to wait until the next penguin refresh if your site actually got hit by penguin from my understanding.
