permanent drive letters

This is beyond a fucking joke now.

I've got some external usb drives connected to a hub. The hub gets plugged into the same port each time in the evenings. But during the day, sometimes I have to use that port for camcorder, memory sticks, etc.

On these days, when I get home, Windows 7 changes the fucking drive letters of my external drives. I change them back in Disk Management', but it isn't permanent - next time I use the port for something else, Windows changes the letters again.

It's turning into a saga. Anyone have a solution?

Cheers.

if you change them in disk management it is supposed to be permanent but if your drive doesn't have a serial number on it then it isn't and the drive letter will always be volatile as soon as you unplug it.
So the solution is, take all the usb drives that have serial numbers and plug them in and assign them letters. The ones that don't will take the letters after. If you only have one that is missing a serial number then it'll always be assigned the next unassigned letter :)

shitty solution i know
