Here's an article on the drastically changing mascot marketing and how unless you start creating someone personable, you're going to be left in the dust.

LukeP: I wrote this.

From the article:

As a child you might remember some of the antics of cereal mascots as they attempted to steal, steal back, or keep people from stealing their Lucky Charms, Cookie Crisp, or Trix. Mascots in their current incantation have been stealing our hearts and brains the same way for the last two hundred years, but that is all changing...

:batman: <--Yup, that's me. :485:

Good write up. I thought the Old Spice commercials were awesome and I agree that that format will be mainstream soon.

-Hard to get them off of youtube though and into your living room... The TV (technically cable and all forms of non-interactive TV programming) is the only thing holding this wave back.

BTW, I'm getting Google TV in a week or two. That should do it for me.

Lol. Now let's see how many of you geniuses "get" this one re: the OP...

With all the internet TV's around I don't think commercials pulled into your living room just for you are out of the question considering how much your TV will know about you in the next 5 years.

Some of the mayhem and flo spots are kind of fun as well as the most interesting man in the world. I wouldn't mind playing a dating sim where I could try and date product mascots.

out it son! it'll make for epic lulz all around.
Prolly not "Epic", but it amused me...

no no no, we're having a sub-conversation; I contracted Josh to do some out-of-the-box work a year or two ago, let's just say it involved a pick up artist named "the babe whisperer" and a few radio/magazine interviews... btw josh that guy from NY still emailing you? (rofl) or was it me he was emailing? I remember he sent a bunch of e-mails after the fact, I can scrape them up for you if need be.
