QUick Question:

I am going to sink my teeth into PHP i think. I know basics, and i am looking for a book to purchase that covers beginning to absolute Advanced shit. Any reccommendations?

Ps. I have experience in Visual Basic, Turing, Java and C#. I thought i would learn to scrape and shit a lot better. Online resources are just alright in my opinion.

Also, DOes anyone have any good resources for Ruby On Rails etc. and comparing online programming languages. like... WHich is better for particular applicatons and stuff like that? I have been looking for a few days without any real success.

What would you reccommend on learning? Programming comes VERY easy to me so i pretty much learn anything.

Thanks boys,

Scott

I posted a similar thread in the Design/Development category, Look at it in there, people made some nice recommendations.

sp111, if you have some programming experience there's one great book I'd recomend. PHP in a Nutshell... hands down the most useful PHP there is once you have some background in a programing language. You'll probably reference it 1000 times while learning

Thanks to smaxor, I just learnt about this book. Did a quick search and found an ebook version. If anybody is looking for it, here is the URL.

THanks homie, I was looking on amazon and found PHP bible and other Advanced books. I will go to my local chapters and take a look around.

As much I hate to tell you but the best books I've read about PHP are by SitePoint -- atleast IMHO. Kev's book is pretty basic but Harry Fuecks's PHP anthology are pretty awesome. And yes, they are available on RS.

Be sure to also buy a security book such as "essential php security" or "php architect's guide to php security".
