My brother is home from college and didn't want a crappy summer job. So, I'm putting him to work.

I taught him Step By Step how to build a site with phpBay. I documented the process so he can refer to it later and I posted it to my blog figuring people here could use it too.

The Site: EddieBauer.org
The Tutorial: PHPBay: Start to Finish Tutorial : eurekadiary.com

Before you ask, I answer the whole "trademark domain" question in the post. Please save that discussion for another thread. It's been debated to death and I'd rather pass on it.

I've been kind of MIA on my blog cause I'm so damn busy. If you have questions, just ask them here. I'll try to my best to get back to everybody.

Sweet post trigy. Love seeing stuff like this on the board. Although you should have used some hosting service with a nice affiliate payout :P could have got a few signups. Which I think posts like this deserve.

I have never really tried to monetize my blog. I guess using aff links couldn't hurt... so I made the change. Thanks Smax.

Awesome post! This is probably one of the better posts on this board for me.. I've never been good at turning a default wordpress into a nice looking blog and this showed me some of the basics that I really needed to know. Thanks for posting this :)

thanks very much, phpbay has been on my list of projects for quite some time, this plus your editing of the template helped significantly.

I'll buy phpbay through your aff link.

Damnit, where was this tutorial a week ago when i needed it!! I do still have issues with modifying the header gif, and changing font color and sizes though. For some reason I just can't get that stuff to work. So if ever you feel like expanding on this tutorial feel free to start there ;) (I got the trigger happy deleting stuff down though!)

Turbolapp: modifying that stuff is usually just an issue of either replacing the graphic with your own and/or finding the element in your CSS file and trying different things to make it look good.

Of course, it helps if you know CSS... how to use padding, bold, margin, borders, floats, etc...

If you give me something specific to look at I'll try and help out. One easy trick people don't use enough is to look at your page in the browser and VIEW SOURCE to see what the browser is actually spitting out. A lot of times it will give you the info needed to know what to change/tweak/modify in your CSS based on the div/class/tables, etc...

Wow, thank you so much for the tutorial. I learned quite a bit just by reading that. How much are you making off this site if you don't mind me asking.
