Been reading and reading, but a general n0000b question.. When I order and get reports for backlinks (forums, etc), should I somehow ping them? If so, is there a site somewhere I can implement my links into to have them pinged? Is this important with SEO?

Get yourself megapinger, it's like $20 and you can just paste all your links into it and it will ping them and yeah it's important in SEO as the engines will pick the links up quicker and count them.
