I've read up about pinging but I have a couple of basic (very basic) questions that I can't find answers for.
The are plenty of sites that offer pinging services (such as Ping-o-Matic!), can you submit any site (eg a static html site)? Do you submit the homepage or the new page?
What steps happen after you submit to the pinging service that lead to the flood of traffic (I wish).
