Places to stay in San Fran?

I'm looking for a really cool boutique hotel to stay in while I'm in San Francisco.

I want to be close to night life, the bay, all the touristy shit.

Suggestions?
 


Hyatt normally sucks, but a friend recommends the hyatt embarcadero:

Hotel Vitale is pretty upscale, on the embarcadero, and has some of the better room service. The food at the Americano bar is pretty good, and I've heard it's the place to be some nights.

The W is always entertaining, and XYZ and the club on the second floor is sometimes really good.
 
When I lived in San Francisco I used to love the tacos at Taqueria Cancun at mission and 19th and my favorite bar was Elbo room at 19th and valencia. Check them out

Didnt stay in a hotel though, was in a hostel. Dont know if thats your thing or not
 
bayview hunters point and the tenderloin are the best districts in frisco

i really recommend you check out the castro district. your SEO face will do great there
 
i stayed at "The W", accross from the convention center - it was pretty nice, and pretty expensive too
 
I can't recommend a specific place, as I used to live there so I'm not really familiar with hotels. But I can tell you where to stay...near Union Square would be my pick. Easy public transit, and you have a lot of shops and restaurants within walking distance.

When you're there, check out Fisherman's Wharf and North Beach. Eat a crab while standing up. Always great fun!
