Pointing 1st, 2nd and Trd Keywords to mainpage?

Is this a logical/possible keyword strategy?.

Let's say we have

KW1: Widgets
KW2: Blue Widgets
KW3: Sexy Blue Widgets

Is it advisable / possible try to rank all those keywords in a single page (whether it is the homepage or a regular page)

Yes it's possible. Why shouldn't it? I had one of my subpages ranking in the top 10 with 3 different keywords. Even if they were all long tail keywords with not much searches/day, that page made quite some money.

Many times for a new site, I'll try to rank for the 3 keyword phrase first, and the 2 keyword phrase and even single keyword will naturally begin to rank on it's own, since it's already a part of the 3 keyword phrase. Then once your 3 kw phrase is ranking well, start building even more anchor texts toward the 2 keyword phrase. I have sites that the home page has number 1 rankings for 20+ 2 keyword phrases. This equates to really good traffic volume.
