Just saw these advertised last week.

Anyone try out these USB LCD monitors?

Seems like a good companion to bring along with a laptop...
...especally for those people who are on the road a lot and are used to working with dual monitors.

Not that bad of a price either...about $200.

I thought about getting a usb monitor and then talked myself out of it and bought a new video card and another widescreen monitor instead, for close to the same price.

I guess they have their place. I hadn't thought about using them for laptops, that's a good idea.

Mimo Monitors

What's the resolution on that toshiba?

I don't get it... A portable monitor that you will still need to plug into something so you would have to take a laptop anyway... and for me if im working on a laptop the screen is not a problem. It's working on a small keyboard and mouse.

So what's the Loss for it being on USB? Lower refresh rate? Shitty color?

Does it still need a power cord to an AC outlet?

Does it require USB 3.0?

:/

USB = 480mbps
DVI/HDMI = around 5gbps

So I would imagine it would take longer to load things on the monitor

The advantage of this is this monitor can charge via the USB, so there is no need for an extra AC cord or power source.

Still, even this seems like a huge hassle. You wouldn't be able to balance this + your laptop on your lap. Not to mention a great way to reduce your battery life by quite a lot.

Over here they show the full specs on this sweet thang; and they do clearly show that you can power it completely with the same USB cable that carries the video too.

The stats look pretty normal, but it appears they sell a Seperate AC adapter for it to reach "Max Brightness." -This leads me to assume its' normal power source only brings it to 50-75% normal brightness, so direct sunlight would be no fun at all.

They are selling USB 2.0 cables as an accessory for it, so it does not appear to need a 3.0 port, either!

Overall this thing looks very impressive, with the one drawback being that it needs the AC power adapter ($40) to be as bright as you might need sometimes.

This shits awesome, really surprised at it only being $200 (does it retail at £120?)

Tried looking for a video of it playing some high quality video or game but tbh I don't think thats much of an issue for the target market.

/tries to find excuse to buy one
