Just a quick question for all the PPC experts here. So I have few really really high volume keywords (literally over 1000 impressions per hour of google search). The problem is that it is a trademark and even though the keywords show my ads, the ctr is really low 0.40% on search and this sucks because I can not use the trademark term on the ads. Is there any other ways of increasing the ctr rate? The offers I am showing is of competitors with that low ctr.

I have tried with new ads but it doesn't do much. Usually all my ads have ctr around 4%-13% in other campaigns. The has to be a way to monetize on this traffic.

A example of an high volume keyword at the moment is : Ipad!
 
i did have some success using cap letter on the ipad example.

Instead of iPad use = Ipad and it did work for e.

yeah I have done that on the day of release. The issue is ctr though. Is it similar problem to content network. High impression and low click thru.
 
CTR is arbitrary based on the competition for that particular keyword. A 4% CTR can be considered "bad" if your competition are all 5-8% CTRs. Similarly, a 1% CTR can be considered "good" if your competition is below that. If you truly feel you currently have a solid ad variation, a variation BETTER than the competitors, then there shouldnt be a problem. Anyway you look at it you wont be able to get the trademarked word in your ad variation. Google wont make acceptions for an affiliate unless there is approval from the namebrand company. CTR is all about trial and error. so just keep testing.

Additionally, although you cant get the trademark in your ad variation content, you can get it in as the domain name. Cough cough, this is where subdomains come in super handy :)

yeah, that is actually true, I have been so busy lately with direct linking that i had forgot about sub domains lol
 
Use the search query report to find out what other words are being searched for, in conjunction with your keyword, and put them in the headline.

Or, describe the brand - instead of iPod try "That Famous MP3 Player".

If you are only using exacts, then A/B testing as mentioned above, plus the domain/subdomain are your best bets.
