Does anyone know of good project management software either free or paid (although not stupid expensive).

It needs to have

-ability to add 'projects' which have different fields you can add for each, and then fill them in
-a way to check projects as done
-collaborative mode is essential, so either my business partner or I can connect/change projects/check off when done, etc
-thats all I can think of now

we were going to use a spreadsheet, but our projects are quite complicated so multiple fields for each would be nice, and a spreadsheet doesnt quite cut it
ive already taken a look at toggl, together, evernote (not really what its used for but those were the ones we found)

okay well.. i went to upload it and i see its already on the server. lol. apparently my biz partner tried it just yesterday and didnt like it - i didnt try it yet though. ill have to see what it was lacking and ill report back

Thanks illeat. Ill check those out now.

by the way, these 'projects' are more like clients with all their names, numbers, customer details (not CC or super private info). But the actual client is a 'project' so to speak, so we cross them off when we complete our interactions with them, hence why theyre both like projects and clients.

It looks like the problem with collabtive was there are no custom fields to input their data in, only a section for 'notes', uploading files etc.

Checkout Highrise on the 37signals site. Its considered a CRM as opposed to project manager, but it sounds like exactly what you are looking for.

Sounds like you need a CRM rather than PM software. Like everyone else said, 37 signals, also take a look at Tour | BatchBook . If you really want to go over the top, there is SugarCRM which you can customize to do pretty much anything.
