Hey,

Ok, I have a bunch of noobie questions so I thought I'd stick em all into one post instead of making a bunch of seperate threads.

I want to promote video games via adwords, like hot 360 games and wii games.

The plan is to create simple landing pages and then bid on only terms like "buy xx game" and stuff like that.

I have little experience with PPC so hope you's could hlep me out a little.

1.) For the landing page:
Do you create a review page or just an information page?
How do you get a good quality score with campaign like these?

2.) Is there any legal problems with bidding on product specific terms like specific wii games, I don't know if they're trademarked or not?

3.) What affiliate program would you use for this? ebay, amazon, etc?

That's all I can think of for now, just trying to be a bit cautious and not lose a load of cash doing something stupid.

Thanks.

Be careful. You may only get $1.00-2.00 per sale, if you end up paying 0.10 per click you'll need at least a 10% conversion rate just to break even.

And that's assuming full price games and for some games 0.10 might be optimistic.

Thanks for the example, looks good, although I was think of making landing pages for specific games and linking to it on Amazon.

It was actually your post that inspired me to do this, I'm going to make landing pages on weebly for specific games and promote them with PPC.

Would it be easier to make money using MSN and Yahoo instead of adwords?

Also, you said that a 10% conversion rate is needed to break even, would that not be quite easy to get if I'm bidding on terms like "buy xxxx xxx" and "purchase xxx xxx"?

Thanks

you can see offer for specific games there. Look at the footer -> browse games -> pick category -> pick game title

for example 2 Fast 2 Furious game deep link on: hxxp://gamestoyourdoor.com/game.php?game_id=3410

it's actually rent game landing page, not buy game. I don't know about weebly and games offer on amazon coz I don't game them :D

I'm sure P_M90 will jump in later to help you. Good luck.

Ah cool, initially I would expect to lose a little money until you've tested your landing pages and have that conversion rate above 10% or your quality score is good enough that you are paying pennies per click.

Even though you are promoting "buy" phrases, people still need to be convinced to execute the buy, they could be price sensitive or the merchant you use may not convert so well.

Starting out, for now expect a 1-4% conversion rate, so expect that type of loss and work on getting that rate higher, then start to lower your keyword bids.

That said, you may have a kick arse landing page and start up with a high conversion rate, just test test test.

If I were you, I would find a coupon (on WF) for Yahoo or MSN and go that route, this way you can tune your landing on someone else's money.

Cheers guys,

I'll get the coupons for MSN and Yahoo and just give it a try, worst scenario is I lose the free coupon cash.

For the landing page, I was thinking of having links direct to Amazon for the game and then also have some ebay listings for the game, sort of like a "you can get this game right now from Amazon but you may want to check out these ebay auctions for some killer deals" or something like that.

Cheers for your advice.

go ahead and do it.

No way to learn but try.

And yes, I am serious.

Build the landing pages, show them for criticism. Test, test, test.
