Hello:
I just got advice on another thread to use prosper202 for free conversion tracking.

Can anyone share their experience? Why would I use that application and not Google conversion tracking ?

Thanks

It's self hosted. Provides lots of data in a easy-to-see way. Wes is a good guy.

Looks pretty cool but...

Here is the question :

I am setting up a marketing campaign for a client.
1 Landing Page, 1 Offer, Fixed Payout.

I was planning to use Google conversion tracking and follow the suggestion I got here in another thread - to just use <noscript> pixel for conversion pixel.

At the same time it was suggested that it would be better to use prosper...

What is wrong with Goodle default coversion tracking? Will it not do what I need it to do - show me what keywords are converting?

Thanks again, any help is appreciated

Prosper lets you mask your affiliate URL.

Sometimes you just don't want the big G to know everything.

Why not just ask this on their forum?

To answer to your question, there's nothing wrong with using google's conversion tracking.

With prosper202 you get to see the exact keywords being generated from Broad/Phrase Match.

I've been using Prosper202 and I like it. It was easy to install (getting the ZendOptimizer working was a bit of a pain).

It does provide a lot of data but there are some interface things that I'm not a huge fan of. I get the impression that if it did 20% less in terms of functionality that it would be a much better application all around.

I love this software. You should use it, it's free and you only gain information. It was easy to setup (upload it all in binary) and it works well.

Wes keeps the software up to date and looking pretty. Should install it and start using it. Bloody brilliant software.

Thumbs up here as well. The layouts are easy on the eye and the info provided is quite comprehensive. One thing that is still not supported (but is apparently in the works) is tracking of variable commission payouts i.e. % of sale.

Pretty much what more could you want is my opinion. I wrote a post and shared a script on the same concept. But theirs is maintained and pretty. I'd highly suggest it.

google's conversion tracking simply shows conversion rates and #s if you get your network to place the pixel. Propser202 does all this, but also shows you each individual keyword that generated the conversion, the source ip, referrer, OS, browser...time, etc.

Prosper202 rocks bottom line. I'm pretty good friends with Wes and team. They are straight A guys who have a solid product that out does all the paid tools combined many times over. you wont go wrong one you start using this software.

the bottom line are, all the codes are encoded so you can't tell if it "ping" your data to anywhere else. i would be careless if i just use it for testing offer with small volume. i like GA but for some reasons, propsper get more details.

do you use windows or any google products like gmail? have you been able to peek underneath the hood to determine if they phone home secretly without alerting your firewall? you cant really tell. But the risk is great if any company gets caught doing this.

is prosper202 pinging their servers, sending all your data to their databases?

knowing Wes...I'd say not in a million years. again, the risk is too great. you release your software to the world, someone is gonna figure it out and see whats going on. if anything shady were going on...itd be bad news for the future of the company. i dont see 202 as a company who is gonna risk all their hard work for someone else's campaigns, itd be to obvious.

again though...no one is forcing you to use any kind of software. its there if you want it.
