Pulled a muscle in my backFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU UUUUUUUUUUUU-

I was 5 minutes into a preseason club lacrosse scrimmage today, just getting into ready position (I play keeper) as the opposition settled their offense and I felt a fucking painful pop in my back right about heart level. I wasn't lifting, twisting, or straining my back in any special way.

I've played goalkeeper in lacrosse for 20 years. 90 mph shots with a solid rubber ball on bare shins, broken thumbnails, and more bruises than Rihanna; pain & I are well acquainted and I rarely bitch about it. But for those who have never pulled a muscle in their back, this is fucking excruciating. It feels like someone jabbing a knife into your spine.

This has happened to me 4 or 5 other times and its always horrible the day it happens, even worse the next day, and then gets progressively better over about 5 days at which point the pain subsides.

I took the maximum dosage of ibuprofen and am drinking beer for the pain. If its like previous times, tomorrow is going to be hell on earth and I'll probably hit up my Vicodin reserve.

So I was wondering if anyone here can relate to this, knows anything about preventing/treating it, or has any other advice.

Dick rolls, inb4's, general faggotry, and aspersions welcomed.

tl;dr version - Read the thread title again you sluggardly smegma smeller.

Oh and inb4 shit talk about lacrosse from neckbeards who have never competed at anything that wasn't in front of a monitor or television set.

The combination of alcohol and ibuprofen can cause stomach ulcers and intestinal bleeding, etc. Be careful with that.

I didn't read anything else.

You sure that you should mix those? At least I always fuck shit up even more when I drink alcohol while on painkillers..

Alcohol + ibuprofen is pretty safe as it doesn't cause any interactions and ibuprofen doesn't cause any major internal organ vulnerabilities that I've read about. Alcohol + tylenol or aspirin is definitely not a good idea since they cause added stress on the liver and kidneys respectively.

As for additional damage from not feeling pain, no marauding for me tonight. I'm staying in and moving very slowly.

Pulled something in my lower back about 7-8 months ago, same type of scenario - wasn't doing shit that would warrant it. Stretching it out was probably the only thing to make it feel better (you know, after the FUUUUU pain during the stretch) other than stacking OTC painkillers. Heating pad helped but only when it got to the point that it burned like hell.

Other than that, it definitely feels better after I bought an Embody chair and used it for 2 weeks now. No longer see it as "hype" heh.

TL;DR -> Go through the pain of stretching, if it's muscle then it should hurt after you curse from the pain.

eh.. I did my basic research. No major red flags.

??

"This medicine may also cause serious effects on the stomach or intestines, including bleeding or perforation (forming of a hole). These conditions can be fatal and can occur without warning while you are taking ibuprofen, especially in older adults."

"Avoid drinking alcohol. It may increase your risk of stomach bleeding."

Ibuprofen Information from Drugs.com

Tylenol and alcohol is bad for the liver, ibuprofen in general is not good for gastrointestinal. It's ok once in a while but taking daily is bad.

So now the whole fucking thread is about the guy drinking A beer and taking some OTC meds. Typical wicked fire, but whatever.

To address the OP concerns. I tore a muscle in my upper back/lower trap and have found that no matter what, that bitch will just flare up from time to time. Stretching on a daily basis is a great preventative measure to take, as well as warming up slowly when preparing for physical activity. Other than that, when it flares up, I usually do exactly what you are, brews and pill FTW. Without 'em sleep is impossible.

this is why i always say, "Play Jai alai, faggot!"

J/K , not being a neckbeard. BUT....

1. go downtown
2. pretend like you are buying a new indie rock album
3. ask local neckbeard if he knows if the Vikings are in town (might sound weird on SB sunday)
4. ******
5. Heal

good luck bro
