Question about GetDataBack/imaging

Hello,

I'm trying to recover data on my external hard drive... for whatever reason, it started showing "Not Initialized" and "Unallocated" from the Device Manager.

So I download GetDataBack ... and then I read that it's better to create an image of the failed HD and work from it (instead of the original).

I'm in the process of creating the image, but I don't think I have enough storage space on my pc to complete the image/copy it over. The failed HD had about 2 TB capacity, but I doubt it has that much data on it.

My question is will the image be 2 TB in size, or will it only be equal to the size of the data that is on the external HD itself? By the looks of things right now, I think it will be the full 2 TB.

have you tried different usb slots or if that doesn't work, hooking it up to another computer first??

I tried different slots... still no luck. I also tried it on my other computer.

I'm basically getting the "click of death". When the drive is first plugged into the usb slot, it clicks for a few seconds and then stops.

You could remove the drive from the external enclosure and plug it directly in.

Are there any tutorials on this? Never done it before...

there is a program called spinrite that can fix some problems like that. Though generally when you are hearing clicking sounds and mechanical issues, it's time to get the data moved ASAP. Since that hard drive can die at any time.

Maybe this is a sign from god that you should stop saving and organizing porn videos and just watch them on youjizz or pornhub like a normal webmaster.

watching porn videos on computer is SOOOO overrated. True aficionados appreciate artistic porn. Plus you never have to worry about 2TB hard drive click of death.
