This may be an odd question, but I'm having an awful time getting decent search engine results because I keep getting stuff related to consumer-oriented video download services and devices. I figured there may be someone here who sells digital content and knows a bit about this sort of thing.
I work for a video production company / online retailer that sells normal gift items and our own line of "tv screensavers" - things like fake fireplaces and fake aquariums for your television. Although we've always made them available on DVD, we'd like to start offering HD digital downloads.
What we're looking for is a service that can host the content and deal with all aspects of the selling process. Although I know it's possible for us to host the content and do some kind of password-protected download link, we'd really rather just stick a link on each DVD page to direct interested customers to another site where they can buy and download the content.
So far, the best alternative I've seen is Payloadz, but the fact that they spell their company name with a "z" makes me hesitant to offer it up to my boss as a suggestion. I'm also not crazy about the fact that they only take cards through PayPal and Google Checkout. Way too many people get confused by that and think they have to have an account.
We've tried getting hooked up with Amazon UnBox, but they don't seem to be responding to smaller producers yet. Does anyone know of any other services that could host and sell HD video content for a small retailer?
If you help me out, I'll happily buy you a drink at Affiliate Summit in Boston!
