Question about traffic and linked images

If in my web page I link to images on another host how will the bandwidth hit on this image affect my hosting? Will my bandwidth be used for traffic to get the image and then send it to the user or will the browser access it directly from the host of the image?

The user's browser will pull the image from the other server. There will be no bandwidth usage on your end.

Just in case you don't know, if the other website owner monitors his traffic and finds you hot linking to his images, he might become aggravated. Chances are he could sabotage you in one way or another by changing his image to something derogatory, or he might just call you out on copyright infringement. Consider asking for permission first if you haven't already.

I'll be OK. I'll be using public domain images and google maps for all of the content that is linked. The rest I'm hosting.

Good point though. I've done something similar to people hotlinking my stuff before.
