Not sure if anyone else has noticed the influx of stupid fucking posts in here lately?

Maybe there should be a 'think google' rule in force, whereby anyone with a stupid fucking question that could be answered by simply using Google, does just that.

It makes it harder for genuine newcomers IMO. For example

I want to know that how to make short a link.:1bluewinky:
Is it just me being a grump?

(cue the comments about this being a stupid fucking post :p)

i'm there with you on this as are a lot of others, i'm sure. check out this awesome post in shooting the shit:

Plz explain how do I use the PPC?
funny at first but it gets old quick.

How about this:

New members with a post count under 50 only have permission to create new threads in the Newbie section.
This would be enforced by the forum software, so mods don't have to dink around.

Part of the issue here is we killed off sigs and a few other permissions for new users. Plus the first 5 posts (generally) get reviewed before going live.
So people are trying to inflate their post count to get to the point where they're less regulated.
Setting an under 50 rule would just mean they'd post MORE of that crap to meet the cap.

I know it sucks guys, but I think banning as we are may be the best/only way to handle it. Though I would support an instaban filter for the word "rapidshare"

I like the post the replies make me laugh and are one of the reasons wickedfire is so great

Have to agree with this, this forum is awesome and I'm glad I've found it- but some of the noobish questions have made me facepalm. I wouldn't care with some early restrictions because I actually have some insight when I post.

The one slightly annoying restriction is the inability to give rep in the trader section, but I understand why it's there.

Also a restriction of some form for anyone who hasn't been dickrolled.

It should be a formal part of initiation.

True, true, I'll stop whining like an old woman ;)

I'm with you.. In addition to the retarded threads you then have a ton of people answering good threads with retarded comments, failing at trying to be funny/trying to make e-friends/etc and proving they're thick as a fucking breeze-block. I haven't been here that long but it seems there's been a recent influx of newbies pretending like they know everything and in turn giving out stupid advice. But saying that - I have seen some of the DP + WF links people post on here and browsed syndk8 in the past, Wickedfire definitely has the most clued up people overall.

You could make WickedFire invite only and open registration up to the public every few months. Its either a brilliant or a terrible idea.. (I guess ad revenue would drop if it was closed to the public for a while, so maybe not)

Shady's right. The more we try to ward off spammers the more the shit piles up. Thank goodness for the 1 click ban button. Now it's just between you spammer newbs and my finger.

I dont mind newbie questions, it's just the simple one liners that infuriate me.
e.g. the person who expects all the secrets of AM to be revealed for typing "how do i make money plz help"

Ive seen a few noobs post well documented profiles of themselves, what theyve done, their efforts, and they usually dont get the retorts. I would never insult someone who did a formal introduction, told us a little about him/herself, told us what theyve tried first, and their issues, etc.

Spelling is also key, if someone is gonna say "heyzzz peeps, im newwwww here", well, in the words of Joe Pesci, "this guy is just begging to be made an example of"

How about an auto-ban for spelling errors in the first one or two posts?

Saying that comments on threads have been like DP recently is giving the fools too much credit. It's starting to turn into the dreaded 4chan....yes....It's that bad.
