Historically anti-aging interventions (besides diet, exercise and caloric restriction) have been bullshit.

Several scientists have been able to double and sometimes triple the lifespan of simple organisms like yeast, worms and flies. Some have shrugged at these breakthroughs while others speculate that we may see legit radical life extension in our lifetimes.

Would you extended your life if science grants you the option?

Yes. There's so much fun and greatness here why would I want the party to end? Either via some sort of extension , transhumanism, or having to fall back on cryo and then wait - I'm all for it.

It'd be a bigger breakthrough if science came up with a blunt that never stopped burning.

Life, long or short, is best spent high.

Sounds like a smart guy but very short on actual detail/evidance how hes going to keep people more healthy/help them to live longer

That guys beard is so EPIC

Beard? Son that's a state of the art life measurement device, he grows it as proof to non-believers that he's been alive for over 150 years already using nothing but fetal pig organs and african baby stem cells to fuel his body. What you thought there were no ulterior motives in Brad and Angelina's adoption?

I think it was DeGray who said the first person who will live to 1,000 yrs has probably already been born.

We will definitely see suspension in our lifetimes. H2S gas is typically considered poisonous, but it can reduce the metabolic rates of small organisms and even small mammals by ~90%. Some speculate that it's the oxygen that keeps us alive that also causes us to decay.

Although, it's probably not going to be the life of a cell that's extended, rather the unit of time we use to measure the length of that life will be shortened.

simple answer no.

Why the fuck would I want to live to be 1000? That makes no sense. I'm not even 30 and could really give a shit about living to 70.

Don't worry, I highly doubt this would be a mandatory service. You wanna die? Go right ahead.

Never said I wanted to die right now. I don't want to pay someone to wipe my ass. Yeah they can make you live to 1000, but what's the quality?

I watched a documentary on Aubrey De Grey... the dude smashed like 10 pints of beer over the course of the doco, starting at like 10am.

Lifespan has been increasing thanks to advances in science like antibiotics, etc.

With all the knowkedge out there about food, lifestyle, etc. I think sometime in this century we will see that living over 100 becomes absolutely normal.

With increased longevity, I see suicide becoming more and more a topic of conversation.

Personally, I have a very curious and active mind and increased longevity would give me the chance to explore everything I'm interested in instead of just the things I have time for.
