This is what I meant.
I got a #1 for lets say. .015
Tard boy comes along and bids .02
I Bid .021 to take it back.
He bids .026
I bid .027
He bids .032
I Bid .033
This goes all the way up to my current bid of .072
Now hes decided that he is ok with .071 and being #2
Ive tried lowering my bid to get him to come back several times , even bid .071 to share it with him if he would drop his bid, so i'm bidding .072 for #1 and just making over break even compared to great roi.
Anyway at some point I'm sure he will run out of money since , get po'ed and leave, its just annoying.
His bidding strategy is the exact same as yours. The only reason you are calling him a noob is because he used the "make my bid the highest" option which increases bids by 0.005 instead of the necessary 0.001
Both of your bidding strategies suck. At no point did either of you match the other's bid. My first response would have been to bid .02 to match his, preferably quickly after his first bid (perhaps even automated) to let him know that this isnt some dormant url that isnt beging watched and has been bid on for the same last year. Of course he can still instigate a bidding war at that point, leading to the same situation you both are in, but at least one of you isnt retarded.
On TV my experience has been that with more than 1 bidder #1 gets 70-80% of the traffic, #2 gets 10-20% of the traffic, and #3-#n get the remaining. If two people split the bid, they both get 50% each provided no one else is on the URL or combined 80-90% otherwise (40-45%)
So lets say your epc was 0.07 and you could get 50% of the traffic with a 0.02 bid if you both split the traffic. This URL would still be very worthwhile. Instead you guys got in a bid war OVER ONLY AN 20-30% ADDITIONAL TRAFFIC IF YOU SPLIT IT since there is now a #2, which has resulted in nobody but trafficvance, the advertiser, and the network making money. Plus you are wasting time fucking with bids.
PS you have no idea what his epc is so you have no idea if he's losing money, you also have no idea what his budget is or how or even when he is monetizing this traffic. So assuming you are going to outlast him can be really silly. Also he is assuming you are losing money and is just trying to bleed you out by bidding right under you. Nobody will win this.
This situation pretty much illustrates why ppv has gone to complete shit.
