Glad to see you prairie doggin' trig

zillow's api is probably the closest thing you are going to find. If I'm not mistaken, access to the MLS is done on a statewide level and very closed source. You have to get forms filled out from a RE broker to access it.

At least that's that way it was when I did a site for RE/MAX a while ago.
 
Most states have their own MLS providers(mine has 2 or 3). So its not really centralized. If you need raw data, you would have to buy it from an MLS provider (thats were IDX services get it)(Agents use IDX providers to display MLS on their own sites). But yeah check out Zillow or Trulia, their listings are independent of MLS dictators.

Correct-a-mundo. If you don't have access to a broker, you're not getting an IDX feed.
