Realtime map of DDos attacks

Thats sweet. While I dont know much about DDos attacks, isnt it a bunch of computers spread out over a large area requesting info from a specific server/website? If so the map would be much more cluttered.

That is a DOS - Denial of Service
This often happens to websites who hit front page on Reddit, where due to the low server capabilities, the site goes offline.

A DDOS is a deliberate denial of service. Done to intentionally make a website either load very very slowly or get it offline completely. In most cases it's simply different IP/Proxies or botnets making requests to a websites service, and immediately making another request just to cause server load. (But on a very large scale)

I'm surprised to see so many attacks coming from China.

That post is wrong.

A DDOS is a distributed denial of service, not 'deliberate'. You can deliberately DOS someone, or you can accidentally DOS someone, and you can be part of a DDOS without any ill intention. DDOS just means there's lots of nodes requesting data, DOS means a single node.

I remember seeing a guy on Reddit explaining it like that a couple of months ago. Sorry for being incorrect.
